My doc said I would need to watch carbs. Then, when I read some recipes on here, people use low fat as well. So, is it to each his own, or are we supposed to avoid carbs and fat? Just would like everyones take on this :)

Some folks don't do any carbs. Others like myself do carbs in very small amounts. Alot of it depends on what your band can tolerate and what works best for you related to your weight loss. The doctor is correct about one thing....you really do have to watch how much carbs you are eating. They can be calorie laden and don't fill you up the way solid Protein does.

My Dr said Protein 1st, fruits and veggies 2nd, carbs last. I rarely have room for carbs, and if I do its only about 3 bites. I can do wheat thins daily, but only 1/4 of a potato or brown rice once a week, bread or Pasta 1x a month. I started cutting back on anything white well before WLS, so I was used to whole grain or whole wheat by the time I got banded. I dont miss carbs at all ! Good luck !!

I have had 3 dietitians but same doctor. They all have their own thoughts on the meal plans. #2 I liked the best. She said there are no, no-nos just be smart. #3 believes in totally eliminating foods for life. She doesn't believe in sf Jello , oatmeal or Protein Bars just to name a few. Follow what you were told. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. For example, my doctor got irritated with me because I had greek yogurt for Breakfast (during one of our conversations at the fill). He said, "no, no....that's a slider food. you should be doing sausage and eggs for breakfast" That's all well and good, but of course, sausage is full of fat. And, I normally don't eat Breakfast until I am hungry.

Your body, so I am told, needs fats but good ones, to burn storage. When you use fats, try to use olive oil, avocados , nuts.

Personally, once I am past the too tight stage in the morning, I will fry an egg in a dime size olive oil, cook one slice of bacon. Canadian is best for me, I was so presently surprised at how long I stayed full on a small high Protein meal!

I was told no carbs. I didn't follow anyone else's receipes except what my nut instructed me to do. All of our bodies are different. Please follow your surgeons orders. Good luck

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
