Hey!! I started my journey in October of last year! Thinking the day would never come! And I got the call today just to verify hospital stay ect. I am getting very excited , nervous , a million diff emotions in one the closer it gets! I'm really nervous about the post op first cpl weeks and how my new stomach will be! Started looking around in the Bariatric Choice website for Vitamins and diff shakes ect. Expensive but good protein! I'm so excited to have found another Bostonian and same day sleever!!!! ????

Hi there!

I'm getting sleeved at Lahey Hospital on 8/14. I go in for my pre-op on Thursday, and start my liquid diet Friday. Trying so hard not to have that "food funeral" state of mind this past week. It's tough!

Yes !!! I totally understand! I've had a few thoughts about a "last supper" myself! I was originally going on aug 12 th but I'm going on a vAca that week! It's coming up so fast! My surgeon and Nut have not mentioned anything about my pre- surgery liquid diet, we'll see when I go in on aug 21st to meet with the surgeon and the anesthesiologist!

My surgeon's asst said if I was going to have a "last supper" to do it a cpl of weeks before surgery. She said that I shouldn't think that I can't ever have certain foods ever again. Said to get in Protein first and eat small amounts. I don't have to do liquid pre op diet. Just one day prior. Don't know how I'm going to handle all the Protein Drinks. I'm not liking them now but know I'll have to tolerate it. Ugh!!

Leapyear- Mac man is very helpful. Helps me a lot! Good luck! What insurance do you have? Do you have a lot of requirements from them?

Yes I'm going to UMass. Dr Czerniach is my surgeon. Whose is yours. I can't believe we both going same day. Maybe we'll be roommates. Lol. I have Aetna req 6 month process. Can't gain any weight. Went thru all hoops just waiting for 6 month to be over.

Where do u live. I'm in Sterling.

I've corresponded with Mac man before.

I just can't believe we r both on same day and same place. Comfort in numbers. Yes getting more nervous as it gets closer.

I'm sorry I think you misunderstood. I don't have surgery the same day. But how GREAT would that have been.

I'm hoping for November. I have my first Nut appt tomorrow. I have no requirements from my insurance so hoping it will go by quick.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
