Dumping... Is it only from sweets?

Recommended Posts

Feel like I am having the symptoms of dumping but all I ate was a few pieces of very tender fajita meat, refrained Beans and cheese?

My chest is pounding, I feel lightheaded and just weird. I wanna go puke

I thought this only happened with sweets

It can happen with too much sugar or fat in a short amt of time. The only thing I've dumped on is ice cream. Too much sugar AND fat at once. Ice cream is the perfect storm for me.

Could be from the cheese. Also, newly sleeved people seem to have new lactose intolerance they never had before, so u might look into that. It can give the same symptoms.

Good luck!

I'm not sure exactly what dumping is but I have the same symptoms if I take too big of a bite and/or not chewing enough.

Dumping syndrome I believe is when something you eat comes almost immediately out the other end! In one big dump! Hah! I have only had it happen to me once... After I ate a lot if watermelon.

My doctor told me that is a common misconception. Dumping is when your body reacts to a quick change in your sugar levels so it "dumps" insulin. This causes increased heartbeat, dizziness, and a general bad feeling. It can last for up to an hour.

I had not heard high fat causes this as well.

I am feeling better now

Thanks for the explanation. I had no idea what it was. I hope it doesn't happen with fruits. I expect to go on soft foods next week.

I don't have any problems with fruit. I especially love watermelon! Yummm gives you the crunch and is naturally sweet!

Sounds like an over-filled sleeve.

I have had similar feeling when I thought I could hold a few more bites, but was so wrong LOL.

cheese is mostly fat and fat is very filling. The meat needs to be chewed really well.

It's not dumping, most sleevers do not experience true dumping. That is an RNY pleasure, because they have no pyloric sphincter and the sugar runs quickly into the intestine...blah, blah, blah.

Learning when to stop before we hit the full mark can be challenging.

Actually, some sleevers do dump. It isn't common, but it does happen on occasion. fruit is a common culprit for bringing it on for new sleevers.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
