Hang in there I have been reading A LOT and doing my research and all the forums on all the sites say that this will pass. Most of them say that by the end of week 3 it gets much better. I don't know for sure because I'm not getting sleeved until June 30th. Keep us posted and let us know how you are doing :) Smile

Two weeks is a little early in this life long journey. Remember your body didn't get to the size it is in two weeks and, it certainly won't take two weeks to adjust to the surgery. Give your body time to heal. Consult with your physician on how you're feeling. Maybe they can adjust your Vitamins or prescribe you something to relieve the pain. Just know this... You are not alone in this. I'm a week post-op and for me the heartburn is THE worst! So, chin up and BIG hugs!

Hi... is your gas pain from the lap surgery (in your shoulder etc) or do you mean digestive gas? Have you tried gas X strips? Walking is one of the best ways to work out gas from lap surgery too. I think easy does it walks also make you feel better emotionally. Did you say it is getting harder to sip Water? Did you mention this to surgeon? If you get dehydrated you will feel awful and maybe need iv fluids. By 6-8 weeks it will be alot better but it was closer to 12 before I felt human!

I have lost over 160# though. ..so worth it!! The early weeks really suck but it gets better I promise.

Sorry you're feeling rotten. Yep, here I am, just someone else telling you to hang in there. But we are telling you that because we want you to feel better, and most importantly, we want you to start enjoying what it means to now be a WLS person and what a positive impact it is going have on you for the rest of your life--and in some ways that you probably haven't even thought about yet.

So at the times when you're feeling the worst before you start feeling better, just try to remember WHY you made your decision to have the surgery, and you will be on your road to recovery and never look back to this challenging time.

I don't mean to sound like a nag--but please take care of yourself. You know how important it is at this early stage that you get in your Protein and your Water. And, your "no energy" is totally normal. You DID just have major surgery! As your body heals and you are able to get in more quality nutrition, your energy will come back.

Take care and please let us know how you are doing.

It will pass! The first three weeks r the hardest ones don't get discourage. You will see the results! it is a hard journey but you will conquer! I had lots of pain, gas and couldn't pass lots of liquids either. Now I am on my 5th week I have lost 31lbs so far and feel great! Find some support people that you can vent to that will help if there is something this process has taught me is to be patient! Good luck to you! Stay strong!

Yes, I can relate! I'm 3 days out and the Syrup they sent me home with for pain made me vomit! I was in so much pain last night and this morning that I went to the ER earlier today and was given a morphine & IV fluids. They also changed my pain meds to Oral morphine tabs. Still hurts but I can function and walk through it better now. I am not hungry yet though. Thank goodness! I hope you feel better soon. I believe it will get better and we will be a big success. Just keep on truckin!

I'm going to add to the "it's going to get better" drum beat here, but I won't sugar coat it for you.

I had a lot of pain, I mean a lot that first week.

After that, I was so uncomfortable because of the gas and how unhappy my tummy was when I put anything in it and because even my tiny wasp sips of Water and just licking a little yoghurt off the back of a baby spoon threatened to send me straight to the toilet to barf. Every early attempt at adding things like eggs sent me right over the porcelain god.

I said, to myself and out loud to anyone who would listen, that I'd made a horrible mistake, that I was so uncomfortable that I could not imagine how I could live in that condition.

I was actually angry at myself, that's I'd maimed myself and made myself miserable.

The only relief I found was walking. I walked like a maniac. I walked in the morning. I walked at night, midday, 3x, 4x sometimes 5x a day. I walked 5 miles a day, then 10 then more. I walked so much I lost two toe nails. It helped. The gas finally stopped, my stomach stopped being such a fussy baby and let me put solid Proteins in there. And now, I'm running, up to 25 miles a week. And I feel good. I still can't eat raw veggeis, salad and won't ever even attempt a bagel or Pasta or ice cream because I know how icky they feel inside the tum tum, but I've adjusted and kind of forgotten how much I used to love those things. It will get better. Slow at first, then fast. There's nothing wrong with you that you feel miserable. And trying to be "positive" when you feel awful is pretty much impossible. However, finding omething to distract yourself with, can sneak up on you and become something positive, and will help you to get your mind off the very real misery you are experiencing now.

Best of luck, my friend!

I'm right there with you, so I know how you are feeling, and I am so so sorry. It sucks! I don't know how I'm going to survive with all these itsy bitsy sips adding up to hardly anything at all. They are nowhere even near enough to hydrate me much less nourish me. At this point if I could undo my decision I so would. I was sleeved on the June 10th, then went back in for surgery on the 12th because my stomach twisted and I had a blood clot at the end of my esophagus. I thought things would get better after that, but so far I keep wishing for a time machine. I hope things get better for the both of us real soon!

Today is my official 4th week. All I can say is it does get better. I had terrible gas pain. I stopped taking pain meds and got gas x and that helped. Walking really does help too. The sipping gets better too. Sometimes when you are in the thick of it it's hard to remember what it feels like to feel good again but it will happen. I'm still waiting to feel completely normal but I feel 100% better than last week and 200% better than the week before.

My surgeon gave me two prescriptions; Ondansetron for nausea and Omeprazole for acid reflux. These two things combined with some Gas-X strips and moving a lot have enabled me to get down liquids.

Ask your surgeon if those two drugs would be appropriate for you, and if they are, get them.

Excess stomach acid mimics hunger, so the Omeprazole will clear that right up.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
