Hi friends. Yeah I am down 26lbs so far. I am really craving normal food. Not so much that I am hungry - more I just want to participate with my family and live like a normal person. I feel like I am on a really tough diet right now. I have been low energy, so I am going to get Vitamins tomorrow. Otherwise all is good! Clothes are fitting well. I exercised today and that felt good.

I know exactly what you mean. I miss the social aspect of eating. Food was always something we Used to Celebrate, relax, show love, etc in my family... I realize now how much this is also in my head and habits more than just physical.

Congrats on 26lbs!

[@member=rexk] I hear about participating in "life" lol. I had a little reunion get together Friday with since m some high school friends. We did a pot luck and since I'm allowed to have eggs I made some deviled eggs to share but participate in myself. Also one of the ladies made white chicken Chile which I pureed and ate... it really wasn't add hard as I thought. But I definitely agree about being low on energy. I'm ordered Vitamins this weekend too and really hope those help! CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WEIGHTLOSS!!! keep it up.... it will be worth the sacrifice!

hi buddies. I am doing ok but to be honest a little frustrated that I haven't lost more weight- under ordinary circumstances I would be extremely happy with 11 pounds in three weeks but post-surgery it feels a little underwhelming. I guess I have heard lots of people talking about losing 20+ pounds the first month and I got my hopes up. Doing ok with purees- tried to branch out a little bit to things that are still smooth but thicker and I definitely can't eat more than a couple of tablespoons of them- tried a teaspoon of creamy Peanut Butter mixed in sugar-free pudding and (separately!) hummus. I was relieved that they didn't make me nauseous, just got full super fast! Haven't been exercising regularly but I bought a fit bit and am going to start walking on my lunch break- I did two leisurely laps around the outside of my building today and it was really nice to get some fresh air and stretch.

Tiredmama I feel ya completely! I have only lost 8-10lbs since surgery (scale is playing tricks with me) n barely getting in 400 calories a day... I am walking the treadmill up to 20 mins now n I guess that's still not enough to start a loss... makes me wonder how I lost the weight I did preop :-( I know it will happen just gotta learn to have some patience. The good thing is that I have been feeling better and getting ready to go back to work!

Hi!

I got sleeved on June 30. Band revision. So glad he was able to do it all on the same day. Lost 30lbs so far. Trying not to go nuts though, scale and clock watching. I have to learn some patience. How are you doing?

How is everyone doing? It's been a couple of weeks since I posted--however, I've been reading all the posts. I'm going back to work part-time this week. I've been doing really well. I'm amazed at the seemingly disappearance of my arthritis--I truly hope it never comes back.

Like many of you, I've had a hard time choking down my Protein Shakes. Someone else on this forum had recommend this Protein Shake book at amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Bariatric-Foodie-Perfect-Protein-Drinks-ebook/dp/B00BMVSSXW/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1406563665&sr=1-1&keywords=protein+shakes+bariatric

This book is a blessing--her recipes are great!

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

Tomorrow will be 1 month- wow. I am doing well- 25 pounds down (including 10 pre-op.) @@Bratface1005, I also get hungry between meals and need to eat every 2 hours. I see the nutritionist this Thursday and I am curious to hear if she thinks that is ok. I am so done with Protein Shakes and really looking forward to being able to expand my diet soon so I won't need to rely on them as much. I hope everyone is doing well,

@Bratface1005: Hello! Yes. I feel the same way. I am not hungry in the morning nor by lunch. However, I eat in response to weakness. Now yesterday I had a boiled egg for Breakfast and then I did not eat again until dinner. However, after I ate dinner, about two hours later I was hungry again. It's a little annoying but I guess we just have to adjust to the changes in our digestive system and try to make sure we take in enough nutrients. My suggestion is, if you are still hungry that you eat something very low in calories. Plus, we are supposed to condition ourselves to eat six small meals a day when we are in the maintenance phase. So even if you are not hungry, eat on a schedule and see how that works.

One month post op and everything is going great. Down 32 pounds and really no problems at all. Eating 3 small meals a day and sometimes yogurt or fruit in between and no problem with being hungry. Making sure to get Protein in and taking Vitamins and supplements per Dr.'s orders. Hope everyone else is doing as well.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
