This is a great time to take your measurements so you have those numbers to look back on later. Whenever the scale doesn't move that's when I start going down a jean size. It will happen! You are just recovering from the surgery and healing up -- your body is getting into this new mode and many people don't start losing until they get fills. That's the adjustable part of the adjustable lapband. You have had the band installed but you'll be seeing your surgeon for followups. Be sure to keep all your appointments. And way to go on the walking. I'm pretty sure exercise is the magic ingredient. You're doing beautifully -- be a little patient with the process.

You may not see the scale move for weeks at a time. One week is not a stall or plateau. And, you're still in the healing phase. This is the time to eat responsibly and hone your eating slow, small bites and chewing big skills.

Don't expect to lose "Fat" until your band is adjusted properly.

Sounds like you're doing great!! Don't let the scale bring you down. The first 6 weeks, especially, are all about healing from surgery, so remember that. Also, It's very common to go days, even weeks, sometimes without the scale moving. Make sure you're paying attention to all the great things the scale can't show you (how your clothes fit, how you feel overall, etc...) Congrats, and keep up the great work!

You are doing great. I agree with Bandista, take measurements. The scale can change just because of Water weight. Just keep up the good work!

mca98 I was feeling the same way...however, I really listen to the folks on here...they know there stuff and they have been there done that!!! you are just going from one phase to the next, I agree with Bandista start taking your measurements and listen to 2muchfun...this is the time to learn to slow down on how fast we eat, take smaller bites and chew, chew, chew...even if it is only mushy foods...LOLRH!!! You are doing great!!! no worries okay!!! :D

My doctor explained the "stall" in weight pretty good. At surgery he only sewed the band into place. Any discomfort, inability to eat was simply swelling from my stomach being poked at. That stage the band is on like a loose Bracelet. As you go for fills, the "bracelet" will be tightened up a bit each time, and will GRADUALLY restrict the amount of food you can hold per meal. Each fill will irritate the stomach, swelling things a bit so your first few days feel very restrictive, then "loosen up" again. This is the main difference from the gastric sleeve. We do not immediately have a tiny stomach capacity, this comes in time and multiple fills. Be patient, all will happen in time. :)

Put that scale in the closet. only weigh at your doctor's. my weight loss is I stay the same for weeks and than all of the sudden 5 lbs comes off. we all lose weight differently. no matter what the scale says just eat as healthy as you can continue to walk and the wt. will come off. you are healing and have yet gotten a adjustment to your band so take a deep breath you are doing great.

I should have posted this link. It explains why we lose 10 lbs right after surgery:

I am 14 months out and my scale has not moved in the last month. Well, it moved this AM when I saw that same number I moved the scale to under the bed. My dietitian said I was weighing way to much. for me it was the clothes sizes that let me know I was getting smaller. When I was XL and larger I could only find things I liked in XL. Well, guess what? The other day I saw a shirt I really liked and it was a large (way too big) and of course could not find it in a med. Oh, I could only laugh at my predicament, what a way to go!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
