How long was the liquid diet for you?

Recommended Posts

My doc has me on FOUR weeks of shakes. It seems that almost everyone has done 2 weeks. Is this an exceptionally long time? My husband just had the surgery 4 weeks ago and he didn't do any shakes but we have different doctors.

Pre-op diet instructions seem to vary greatly from surgeon to surgeon. I've heard of people doing 4 weeks, 2 weeks, 1week, 2 days just depends on ur surgeon. I'm sure ur surgeon has his or her reasoning maybe u could inquire why so long so at least u will have an understanding of why u need to do it for that period of time. Best of luck to u Hun.

Preop diet varies quite a bit. I had liquids the day before- that's it.

I gotta do 2 days but that's because I did a six month diet before and had significant loss.

Oh and I hear they decide when they see u at the appointment but for some Dr's it could be standard. The quick weight loss is suppose to help aide with reducing the size of the liver and they can look and tell who needs what.

Mine is one week of "liquid" diet, - that's how it's written on my paperwork, 3 shakes per day, 3oz meat and 2cups veggies with some sugar free Jello in between and LOTS of Water

Mine is 7 days liquid only. I just hope it actually makes enough difference in my liver to be worth it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
