What in the world is up with these deep painful hiccups ? It's not when I'm eating or drinking, just random. I get them at least twice a week and never did prior to surgery. My surgery was 9/13 so 6 months out now.

Hmm.. now that is interesting. I used to get the hiccups all the time before I was banded and when I was newly banded I had them the first couple weeks of recovery.

Now they will only start up occasionally when I eat too fast or too much. Have you eating anything that got stuck at all recently?

I would give the Dr. a call and just let them know you have this going on, I know the diaphragm is close to the banded area and when that is swollen it can cause hiccups like that, which is why I say give the Dr. a call, they will have much more insight into it.

Let us know what they say.

Hiccups are usually a sign of satiety. I get them when I've had enough food or have eaten slightly too much. It's a result of food pressing against the valgus nerve in your pouch. If you're a little swollen from a stuck episode or recent fill, this can happen. Take it easy on solid foods till the inflammation goes down and it should go away.

Of course, if it gets worse or doesn't change, a call to your doctor is in order.

Maybe this is your body's signal? I'm still looking for mine -- hoping for a sigh or a flutter, something subtle, but it's probably more in the hiccup realm. I've been stuck four times now and hiccups are always a big part of the event. World class hiccups, the kind that make the house shake. Painful, too! Maybe your pouch wants something out of there or you are just tight from getting stuck before. Why not call it in and get the reassurance from your surgeon's office; that's what they are there for, right? Meanwhile, hope you feel better soon!

Now you hit the nail on the head! That happens to me when I get stuck on something, and what has helped me in the past is Papya enzymes. I have one or two of them and it clears it all up for me and the hiccups totally stop. Give it a try you can get them at Walgreens or GNC they are chewable.< /p>

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
