How can I not loose weight.

Recommended Posts

I am 6 weeks post op. I have lost 25 lbs but nothing in the past week. How can I possibly not loose weight when I am only consuming like 600 to 700 calories a day. I know I need to be patient but nothing in a week?!?!? How can this be. I thought I would loose like 3 or 4 pounds a week. Getting a little discouraged. It just seems strange that I am getting so few calories but not losing.

Don't get discouraged, everybody loses weight different, I'm about 11 weeks out and according to my dr's plan I should be eating around 800 calories a day with 60-80 grams Protein and at least 64oz of Water. I also try to get some type of light exercise everyday either at the gym or around the house.

I know my wife's weight goes up and down especially if it's around that time of the month for her.

You're body is still recovering from major surgery and healing. This is a journey, not a speed race. Be patient, I understand it is frustrating.

If you thing you may be at a stall, try searching for "weight loss stall", click the down arrow, and choose "forum" approximately 1000 posts will show up with suggestions from others who have been there before you. Good luck.

Sounds just about right to me. That loss is very similar to mine at that time. Stalls happen. Repeatedly. And they suck. Keep working the program and the scale will move again.....eventually.

P.s. I just went through (another) 17 day stall. It happens.

That's the danger of focusing only on calories - you need to concentrate on getting Protein and fluids in and on moving around. Hang in there, stick to that and you will lose weight. If you are eating the right things, calories will follow in the right numbers.

Stalls also happen but you may be losing inches as your body adjusts to the weight lost so far. So please don't despair.

Remember, you are not on a diet, this is a new way of eating and living.... and be kind to yourself. Be patient, it will happen for you :-)

I'm four weeks and 5 days out, and just got over a 17 day stall!! Weeks 3 and 4 I lost nothing and it was so difficult. I too worried about calories- vs. getting in Protein and Water. But I did get over the stall, and it is so difficult to stay positive thru them, but they are totally normal. Be happy you are at 6 weeks with a stall, not weeks 3 thru 4.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am getting my 60 grams of Protein and drinking Water. I eat meat at dinner so think I am getting enough calories and protein. Here's to hoping my stale ends soon!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
