April 2014 pre-op group

Recommended Posts

The same thing happened to me about 13 days post op. I felt like a hot poker was in my main incision. The dr said it was from my nerves healing. Stayed for a couple of days and hasn't bothers me since. I am now 3 weeks out

Thanks. That is reassuring to hear! It's definitely put a screeching halt on my walking and moving around. Still trying but literally tear jerking.

That's crazy. I'm 14 days post op and mine hurts but more like a soreness inside. I asked my surgeon yesterday and he said the same thing plus "I had to deep stitch that incision because it's the one I fed the stapler through.

I understand... Mine was so bad it hurt to take a breath or even move a certain way... Thankfully it didn't last long.

Thanks. Sounds like mine. Hoping I'll feel better tomorrow after all "tomorrow is another day."

My surgeon told me I could have grilled or baked fish (as long as it's soft) so....DINNER. I probably won't eat half of this but I'm ecstatic :):)

Don't over use Protein in a single shake, the body only uses 30 grams per meal.,if you drink it all at the same time your body doesn't benefit!

I make 16 oz and sip it throughout the day. Since I cant drink it all at once and have to spread it out. Normally it takes me about 10 hours to finish that along with the Water and gatorade I have to have daily. I just find it easy to know that once that shake is done it complete.

For about a week and a half I was having the worse nausea 24/7 everything was making me nausea... Water, crystal light, broth, even the sugar free Popsicles...I was dry heaving like crazy and nothing was coming up, a few times I had the white foam but other than that nothing. I felt horrible and didn't feel like I had energy for anything, it was all I could do just to get up to go to the bathroom. I called my doctor and he told me to go in... I ended up being put back into the hospital for severe dehydration and needing Vitamin infusions...I thought I was taking in enough fluids but apparently it wasn't enough. I can't express enough no matter how hard you may think it is to get you fluids it, do it anyway...

So apparently I'm dehydrated because I started pureed and have only been sipping Water. My BP dropped again to 89/50. The doctor says water won't do because we need salt. He's making me sip broth the rest of the day. If my BP isn't up tomorrow then I have to go in for an infusion.

I'm praying for you hoping that all goes well with your blood pressure. If you have to get the infusion I pray that it causes your blood pressure to become normal again.

I think I have a problem....I lifted my daughter because I had no choice. She had an accident and I had to get her cleaned up at 2am, well this morning I started to hurt inside my abdomen and it's a stinging/burning feeling and it hurts to bad to want to drink anything so I think I might be getting dehydrated. It's not my incisions, it's my insides like 2 inches to the right of the largest incision (to right towards the middle of my stomach. I am afraid I did something bad. It hurts to move around or get up:/ I don't know what to do.

G2 Gatoraid will help too.

Please call your doctor's answering service. This surgery is too major to be guessing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
