Insurance paying for protein drinks....

Just an FYI ... I'm 5 days post op with the sleeve. Everything is going well. I just wanted to share what my friend shared with me about getting your drinks paid for through your insurance.

Didn't know if it would go through or not but it did!! I signed up online at Insure Nutrition, gave them my insurance information (make sure it's your prescription plan info) and they did all the work for me. They verified my insurance, contacted my Doctor for the prescription and a week later I received my first shipment!!

You all may already know about this but I didn't and I honestly couldn't have been more surprised that it was approved and had no copay!! My drinks were actually delivered a week before my surgery do they were ready for me!

They also do liquid supplements but my doctor has me on chewable Flintstones lol so I'm doing those instead.

Oh and I'm doing premier chocolate.

My surgeon signed the scrip and I faxed it earlier this evening, so we'll see what happens.

Does anyone know if you have to wait till your post op?

No. They took mine with just my surgery date.

No shakes for me, my insurance company won't cover it. Glad I tried though.

Dang! Do you have a prescription plan? Is that the information you gave them? At first I gave them my health insurance information and was denied but they have to submit to your prescription plan.

They tried both, neither worked.

Well shoot! I hate that for you!

I have Medco, and I just submitted. I'll let you guys know if it works. (Since I haven't see anyone mention Medco for prescription coverage)

Please let us know what they say I also have Medco.

That's awesome! Wish I knew that when I first had surgery

I have Horizon BC/BS of Nj and to my great disappointment the shakes aren't covered. :(

Noor1969, I have the same insurance (Horizon BCBS NJ) and found out the same thing yesterday, that's it's not covered.

I just submitted my info. Thanks for the heads up, leo!

They will call you and let you know as soon as your insurance informs them.

My insurance is United Healthcare but my prescription plan has CVS Caremark on it.
