Insurance paying for protein drinks....

Just an FYI ... I'm 5 days post op with the sleeve. Everything is going well. I just wanted to share what my friend shared with me about getting your drinks paid for through your insurance.

Didn't know if it would go through or not but it did!! I signed up online at Insure Nutrition, gave them my insurance information (make sure it's your prescription plan info) and they did all the work for me. They verified my insurance, contacted my Doctor for the prescription and a week later I received my first shipment!!

You all may already know about this but I didn't and I honestly couldn't have been more surprised that it was approved and had no copay!! My drinks were actually delivered a week before my surgery do they were ready for me!

They also do liquid supplements but my doctor has me on chewable Flintstones lol so I'm doing those instead.

Oh and I'm doing premier chocolate.

They're legit! Just got my called that my insurance approved everything yesterday. shakes, scar treatment and Vitamins. They faxed over the prescription to my doctor and he just needs to sign off on it & my shakes should be sent out in either 2 weeks or I'll have them in two weeks. Not entirely sure. Will keep posted when I actually receive the products and what's in it.

Applied and was approved and everything. But they aren't covered in VA ????

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello friends,

I have Cigna (I live in CT, after Jan. 1, 2017 it will switch to Aetna). The shakes, scar cream and supplements were approved. The process took maybe 2 weeks because I wasn't super diligent about making sure my doc got the faxed prescription request from Insure Nutrition - then faxed the company back, signing off on it, which they did.

I'm a lapband revision to sleeve (just had the band out 11/22/16 have to wait 3 months to get the sleeve done). So right now I'm in the middle of the two surgeries. UPS confirmed that I have 4 shipments on the way scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I'm not sure how many Premier Protein come per case, but I'll keep you updated as getting our nutrition covered is a hot topic! I cannot begin to tell you how thankful I am to have this be covered. It eases my mind to know that my protein needs will be met - delivered to my door and covered by my insurance! Now we'll see what happens after the 1st of the year and if Aetna is as generous as Cigna (fingers crossed).

I have Aetna POS II and I just applied. We will see what happens....*fingers crossed*...

Just be aware if you have a yearly maximum benefit on your prescription insurance. They charge an insane amount to the insurance carrier for the shakes. My friend did this and hit her maximum then could not get her actual prescription medication for the rest of the year due to high cost.

Dang it! Now I want to cancel.

I applied on March 7. I just got the phone call 2 minutes ago that I was approved. I asked her could I cancel anytime and she said yes.

I have Aetna POS II.
