Insurance paying for protein drinks....

Recommended Posts

I applied with Aetna, and was turned down- I asked the lady if she was sure she couldn't try using my CVS Caremark prescription plan- and she seemed upset and told me no! If I re- apply with my CVS Caremark, they will fax my Dr again I guess- or call me and tell me nice try! Haha. But also just spent $35 on portion drinks, so think I'll give it another try too. Let me know if your went thru with CVS Caremark on your second try.

I will definitely update you once I hear something back.

Just got an email saying that I'm approved. Shipment should be here in 3-4 business days. I also got the Vitamins and scar cream! I have Apex insurance and CVS/Caremark for prescriptions.

My husband and I both got approved for ours we have Blue Cross Blue Shield federal Wisconsin we are getting the vanilla and chocolate combo shakes the cream and the chewable vitamins. My surgery date isn't even set yet but I just said it was going to be sometime in May so I put down the first and they approved me.

It was about two weeks. Longest part was waiting for my doctor to sign off on their form and fax back.

I called my doc so they would know that a fax was coming. They signed it right away. It didn't take too long. But I can't remember how long.

I called my office, the office where I am having the procedure, and they had no idea what I was talking about. Just my luck the office closed at 12 today. I have to wait til Monday to check in with someone.

Have you already been approved for the surgery though and just don't have a date? The reason I ask is because a few weeks ago I called and talked to a rep and I asked if we could along receive shakes after the surgery is performed and she said no we can get them before approval for surgery. If this is the case I may apply now :)

Just received my shipment! 4 18 count cartons of shakes (half chocolate/half vanilla), liquid vitamins, and scar cream! I have some papers to sign and send back and then the shipments should come automatically every month! This was easier than I thought!

My Dr office is kind of being a pain about signing the prescription. They tell me the Dr's no longer write-sign 3rd party prescriptions of "compounded drugs". I figure It must be the scar cream. I had Insure rewrite the script only to include the Premiere Protein and fax that in. I really don't care about the scar cream or the liquid Multi-vitamins. I am now waiting to see if they will sign that and send it back. I did raise a bit of hell on the phone with the office, I demanded to speak with my surgeon for a logical explanation of why they would not help me get the Protein Shakes paid for be insurance. My insurance paid the Dr as well as the hospital a great deal of money. Now waiting.......

I agree! The amount of money these surgeons are getting is mind blowing! And trust me when I say it's worth every penny! But, they should all bend over backwards to make things financially easier for their patients when possible! Protein Shakes are NOT inexpensive!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
