Yes. I feel the same. Swallowing liquids is no longer painful but purees fill me up so fast. It feels incredibly full, pressure.

This is about how I would explain it too.

Poohbearjohnson, i use the Syntrax Nectar Protein. I currently have a tub of the vanilla bean torte and it is pretty good its kinda sweet though but definatly not bad. I have a tub of carribean cooler that i dislike. Eww. I have tried the chocolate truffle it tastes like chocolate milk to me. I have tried apple ecstasy and it indeed taste like apple and is bright green. However this one hasa little more '' protein powder'' flavor but is still tolerable. The Roadside Lemonade is ok. Again has that protein flavor alittle. And the Cappuccino is very good probably my fav. I also use Isopure unflavored withmy unsweetened vanilla almond milkand add a splash of Torani sugar free Syrup. Thats pretty good as well. hope this helps:)

I am struggling to determine when my stomach is full. Tonight I wound up at a Japanese Steak House for a friend's birthday. Being that today is Day 5, I ate Water and broth only. That said, I had a hard time sorting through head hunger (swearing I was hungry because there was all this delicious food in front of me) and actual hunger and being full. It was totally confusing. Then I came home to make myself a Protein Shake, because I was sure I was hungry after only having broth and water. But after two sips, my stomach felt lots of pressure and was like STOP! I think I realized I was full way too late. Have any of you guys figured this out? I would live some tips. I obviously am a colossal failure at this tonight!

We have to conquer our head hunger if we are to be successful & it scares me. The smell of certain foods still make my mouth water, of course I know I'm not hungry, it's in my head. But it's not stopping me from wanting it. Being around foods is still going to be a battle, we will have to keep reminding ourselves it's not real hunger.

Thanks! I am ordering my hubby a sample pack from a website to add some variety. I saw on the site in it's advertising " and if you don't like coconut, don't get Caribbean Cooler" so was like oh ook so that was coconut flavor, that's good to know. Otherwise, I don't see how one could know what the non-fruit named ones would taste like.

And thx for the bit about the syrup. I got him some stevia sweetener and was wondering what else we could use to help that unsweetened vanilla almond milk - that stuff is ROUGH!!!! Lol

Yea you can order samples of Protein powders off of nashuanutrition.com i believe i spelt that right. I ordered several a week or 2ago. Also you must try the Celebrate vanilla cake batter one it does taste like cake and you cant taste the protein!! It rocks. Only thing is it cost like 62$ per tub. But i might have to invest. It also has a multibitamim IN the shake mix per serving! Thats good too. Check out the website www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com if you havent already. She does a blog series titled '' a day in my pouch '' with awesome shake recipies and normal food recipies that look awesome for when your on solid food. Its pretty awesome!. Ohh and i lovveeee coconut!! But i cant handle that carribean cooler blahh :)

Kajungumbo, when i was pre op i used skim milk my surgeon has yet to release me for dairy products post op. I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk until i can switch to skim milk. I dont like my shakes mixed with Water. But i.do make the Syntrax Nectar fruit flavored Protein with cold water and add a little ice. Once i am cleared for dairy i will be using skim milk to mix because of the extra protein it will add. And to me it just tastes the best!!. Good luck :)

I am one of the "lucky" ones who can't tolerate milk after surgery. I bought lactose free milk and tried it and STILL ended up with a terrible stomachache and diarrhea. I even had a couple tiny bites of some lite tapioca pudding (made with milk) and got sick. Guess I will have to try soy milk next.

One of my incisions (the only gross one) scab fell off and now I have a penny-sized crater on my side. So gross! The rest of my incisions are all stitched nicely and most still have the glue on them. But this one had to go and ruin it for me.

Oh and I keep meaning to ask, is anyone on post-surgery meds? I am on liquid Zantac to prevent ulcers and help with heartburn, and I am also on liquid Ursodiol to help prevent galstones. Both twice a day. I will be on these a total of two months. The Zantac isn't bad but omg the Ursodiol is so gross. Luckily after I've used all the liquid I will be able to take them in pill form.

After reading so many posts I'm counting my blessings. Today is day 10 for me. I've have zero head or physical hungry. The only real problem is I can't tolerate cold drinks/shakes, Jello etc. My only source of Protein has been from Isopure drinks and what little amount that comes from Soup. So I sip that, Water and Gatorade 2 all day. I did experience vomiting once trying to take the liquid antibiotics I need for H. Pylori. It all came up and was the worse experience since I got sleeved. Instead of throwing a pity party the next time I run out of pain meds I'm going to remember that experience. The pain I feel is more tolerable then any constant nausea. That is true misery. I can almost understand why some regret surgery when they have to deal with that often. I consider myself a lucky Sleever in the recovery process. Hope it stays that when I transition over to pureed/soft foods tomorrow.

Hi I am new to this forum but wanted to add myself to the March 2014 Sleevers. I look forward to keeping in touch and getting good tips. I am 5 days post op and feeling great. I am missing solid foods but I know it will be worth it in the end. Are there any Mississippi Sleevers out there?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
