my doctor called today and informed me that i will be needing my gallbladder removed. they are also going to check out a mass i have in my abdoman near my port .i have been having pain in my back and the port area since lapband surgery. the question i have is. are they going to have to empty my band for surgery. they didn't when i broke my arm and had to be put under for surgery. but i am glad to have this done. i haven't been able to exercise with the back pain. i so hope the surgery will help my back. any info would be appreciated

good luck and I hope it goes well. I am not sure they empty the band with each surgery but you might call your surgeon and ask them.

Hi Terry, I have no idea about whether they will keep your band filled for the GB removal but I do know how much better I felt once mine was removed. Had a lot of issues for a long time including the back pain, referred chest pain, etc., and was so glad to have it out. Mass near port site will be good to identify. When is your surgery? Of course you can request the Fluid be left in your band if at all possible. We are thinking of you -- sending healing thoughts your way.

Sending out positive vibes and hope all goes well for you! The best advice on the band here is to give your surgeon a call. Both the doctor removing your gallbladder and scar tissue as well as your bariatric surgeon as their recommendations may be vastly different and you want to do what's best for you and for your band.

Sending many wishes for a smooth operation and speedy recovery.

If I were getting this done, I'd have my band emptied just so I wouldn't have any issue with postop meds. I wouldn't want to be worried about getting those stuck.

I'd then return and get my band refilled once I was off the meds.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
