8 weeks post OP and curious

I just wanted to share how thing are going since banding back. n November. So I've lost 33 lbs which is great but I pray it speeds up or at least doesn't stop. I am eating less have a whole list of foods I've tried that the Beast won't tolerate. I've had one fill about two weeks ago and now I'm down to a 1/2 cup of food. I eat more than that and it's a world of pain for me. I feel full for hours but I'm still battling head hunger in earnest. I wonder constantly am I doing this right? I eat till I feel full which is approximately when the hunger stops. I struggle with slowing down still and taking smaller bites (alot of eating on the go to undo) I pray constantly that I don't screw this up because I truly don't want to have to do any kind of further WLS if I can avoid it. I'm thankful for the support group here. Was curious about how your journey is going?

Hi, I was banded Nov 8. I've lost 35lbs. Really happy so far. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago. Feels like I have no restriction what so ever. So it's really tough. I fight head hunger on a daily basis. I weigh and measure everything. I believe that's why I'm still losing.

I guess what I'm trying to say is:

i am just reaching my 8 month date. and still trying to reach the green zone. i am dealing with the after meal hunger. but i haven't been to hungry lately and had a fill on the 23rd. that puts me at 8cc in a 14cc band. it is a process so don't rush it learn everything you can between fills.

Hi Angi, I was also banded in November. I have lost 36 pounds so far. Not stellar, by my own standards but I am not complaining. ;) I have a 10 cc band that was primed with 5 cc and have had one adjustment and received 1/2 cc for a total of 5 1/2 cc. I feel as if I am very close to my sweet spot. Right on the bubble. Some days I think I need a tiny push more, others, I think I don't need any more... I don't know, at this point! LOL Anyway. For me, I don't feel "restriction" I feel balanced, satiety for hours after eating, I get satisfied on about 3/4 c. of food, stop eating and that is it for me for at least four hours forward. I eat a couple of times a day. Rarely three. I am just not interested in "three squares". :D

My band doesn't hurt me, it doesn't fight with me, I don't fight with it. I don't get stuck, I don't PB, slime or feel pain. I can eat the foods I choose to eat with reasonable exceptions. I choose to exclude soft, doughy breads, steak and pork chops and so forth from my diet for obvious reasons. I also avoid celery, woody stemmed veggies and so on. Other than that, nothing I want is off the table. I eat Pasta, rice, popcorn (as a treat) I just had clam chowder for lunch. The clams went down just fine with plenty of chewing.

I was a famous volume eater before my band. I could put away huge quantities of food in huge bites, in record time. Plug me in and call me Hoover. I could suck it down like a vacuum. Empty my stomach and go back for more. Yep. Epic eater. That was me. My band has freed me from that nonsense. It hasn't "cured" my head hunger but it has given me the physical stop that helps me remember not to push past the point I must not exceed. And I just don't do it. It's bloody marvelous! I am free of food jail. I am not obsessed. I forget about it until I get so hangry that I have to stop and feed myself my little bandster meal then I get on with my day.

I love my Little Silicone Friend. I have named her Draca. She is my dragon. My guardian, my power center. My companion in this battle. I couldn't do this without her. :D

One thing I have learned on here is everybody is different! I was banded on July 24th and have 6.2 cc's in my 10 cc band! I have lost 50 lbs!

I feel like I need to share that the band is NOT about restriction!!!! It was designed to curb your appetite! The green zone is not when you feel full! You should never feel full! It is when that 1/2 cup to a cup of food satisfies your hunger for 4 hours!

My doctor is very pleased with my loss! It isn't designed to work as fast as the other surgeries! Breath .... You are doing wonderful!

I am a November bander also, and down about thirty pounds. I went into this knowing that the weight loss might be slow at times, especially once closer to goal. I long for Onederland and I know I will get there but it does feel a bit slow just now. The January blahs don't make it easier. It's so cold! I remind myself that losing slowly and steadily is just the kind of healthy weight loss I want. That's why I got the band. Now let another thirty drop off, pronto! As for hunger, I am still sorting that out. I didn't go to my last fill appointment because it felt too soon, but I will probably get a small fill at my next appointment because I don't have the duration we are looking for (4-5 hours). I do fill up after a cup or so but think I could eat more. I have to be careful of grazing, and I need to mastermind some strategies for socializing so I don't have empty calories like alcohol, cheese, etc. I'm discovering what my slider foods are and cheese may be one of them. I need to up my exercise again -- I've been a bit of a slacker there. But all in all I feel good. My self esteem is so much better and I'm loving my size 14 jeans. Yes I could be dropping faster but for me this is not a diet; it is a lifestyle change and I know that's going to take me more than two or three months. My hair is thick and lustrous. Glad for that and if my body needs a plateau to balance out after an initial loss then so be it. We are in this for the long game. Yes it can always be nuanced -- but I need to thank myself for how well I've done and not beat myself up for not doing better. That was then, pre-band, the hard hard work with small result then setbacks and plummeting self worth. This is now. Thirty pounds down and happy! Way to go, me!

I can't get over how much we are alike. I could have written your post ..... Maybe not as eloquently, but definitely with the same new philosophy and outlook !!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
