Hi Roe

it was great to finally chat to someone else who has been banded. You looked great made me realise how much i'd let myself go i've been very deppressed and negative towards the band because of the mixup with my fills and having no restriction and losing nothing for over a year. I have 5 mls in now and i have to say it really does make a difference I've lost five pounds since thursday that has never happened to me before. I feel more positive now. Hello to anyone else I met I'm not sure if you are on the forum or not. Could anyone tell me how you put that thing on the end of your thread that shows how much weight you've lost??

Hi

I was wondering if anyone knows what is going on with ACS, I understand that ACS is being liquidated and that the Hospital Group has taken it over but when I ask how that effects my after care which I paid in good faith and getting more fills I can't get a straight answer. The receptionist was going to put me on to Kim but I have always found her unhelpful. I have been reading your posts and everyone seems to be going to Chirs De Bruin, he did my last fill with ACS, is he will ACS still or has he moved. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Flirtylass I was banded by Jerome Manuceau and we didn't have to do a pre-op diet. All surgeons are different. I'm sure if you needed to do one your surgeon would have given you the info.

Girls just to let you all know I heard today that 2 girls who were filled by the Belgian nurses last week are very badly overfilled. One girl ended up in Loughlinstown yesterday, all they did was put her on a drip, shes flying to Paris today to have a de-fill she's in a very bad way. Just to warn you to be careful how much of a fill you get because if your overfilled theres nowhere in this country to be defilled. Having been in the situation myself its horrific and I'd be very careful how much of a fill you let the nurses give. They give this girl a 2ml fill

As far as I know they've basically washed their hands of us. I haven't been in touch with them, don't really see the point. Last time I heard from them I had my appointment cancelled like many others and was told they'd be in touch in 2 weeks that was months ago. From what I hear anyway they're as bad as ACS so I will steering well clear of them. I personally am just cutting my losses

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I've not been around for a while, I'm currently in London and will be for the remainder of the month. I've decided to pop over to Paris to see Jerome to have a proper xray with him and find out what exactly is causing the acid reflux that I've had since my last fill. I don't think that the band is too tight, I know by how comfortable it is to eat right now that and the fact that I've not lost any weight for quite some time now. I know those of you who have seen me think I'm fine at the weight I'm at now but I would like to lose another 7 to 10lbs but I'm not in a huge hurry to do that. I am more concerned as to whats going on inside me. So I'm going to eurostar it to Paris one day next week and get the xray and the correct fill level. Jerome says he won't charge me for his consult, I'll just have to pay the radiologist for the xray. So that shouldn't be more that 150. Euro. Hope you're all doing well. Take Lil's advice about having conservative fills. Nothing worse than being overfilled, particularly in Ireland. :Banane37:

Hi Again

Thanks Lil for letting me know about ACS, there must be alot of us who have dealt with ACS for this op and are unhappy with our treatment. Personally I don't want to let them get away with this, if enough of us got together and sought legal advice maybe we would be able to negotiate for better treatment. I would love to hear from anyone who would like to take this further, €10,000 is a lot of money for me as I am sure it is for the rest of you, I don't believe this is something we just let them get away with, like all of you I am sure you opted to have the operation in Dublin because you would receive aftercare, which wouldn't have been the case if we had gone to Belgium.

Apologies for the impassioned plea but even before ACS was liquidated I found them unhelpful and rude and I don't like being swizzed!!!

Thanks

candy

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
