After the first month how much is average for someone to lose each week? I'm in my 4th week and lost 3 pounds this week but prior weeks the loss was so much more, except for last week I think I only lost a pound (the stall at 3 weeks perhaps?). Just trying to figure out what is an average weekly loss from this point forward?

Btw, do you write down your weekly losses or do you only keep track of your total monthly losses?

I guess there is no 'average', there is just you.

I track weight by week, but there are stalls and stairsteps, and even gains.

Just follow your program as strictly as you can and it'll wotk out!!!

My doc said figure 10 pounds a month average. 3 a week is GREAT! Many people have the "three week stall" starting around the first 3 weeks, and you can have no weight loss for weeks... this is normal! Try not to compare yourself with others, your body will do what it needs to do in its own sweet time... just follow the rules, Water, move, Protein first and go through the stages.... you will be fine. If it makes you feel bad weighting more often, weigh every month or two weeks. I made a deal with myself that I would not let the numbers push me around emotionally if I weigh every day, and thats what I have always done.

Make sure you measure yourself as well because it is completely possible for you to lose inches and not weight (I've had this happen several times).

I am 12 weeks out. Hw 250 Cw 197. ... actually 12 weeks plus 10 days pre op. I was averaging 4.6lbs per week. Then 3.5 now it is slowing and I'll be thrilled with 2 lbs per week. I use mfp and log my weight under food notes so I can see what I weighed on any given day.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
