Over 300 pounds, when did you notice a difference?

Recommended Posts

Two weeks before surgery I weighed 320. Only lost 7 in the pre-op and 313 day of surgery. Now I'm 3.5 weeks out and down to 289.1. Yay! But I don't feel smaller at all. My clothes don't seem bigger and only the people who know about the surgery will say anything about me looking different.

So, my question is: for those of you who were around my weight when you started, when did you feel thinner. What was the first NSV that made you smile and say, yes! This is working!

I started way heavier...but I have to say my first NSV was about 3 weeks out walking up 4 flights of stairs without getting winded. I had lost about 40 lbs from heaviest. In the first few months there will be lots of little things! Being 7 months out I still have NSV often :)

Thanks! How much are you down in 7 months? Do you mind saying your HW? How's your skin doing? Sorry I have so many questions.

I was a size 6X when I went for surgery...5 months later I came home and I was a size 20..So I had nothing to wear in the house except socks...that was scary to say the least...My hubby went to a thrift store and bought me 2 night gowns size 20..They were snug but worked.....

From there I was an 18 for which seemed forever and now I am a L on top and a 14 in pants.....I still can't believe it!!! Me!!

So hoping I hit the single digits someday!

I finally felt thinner, the first time I could tuck my shirt in and didn't have to worry about pulling the tail out when I raised my arms above my head! :-P I started out at 374, I could see the lbs falling when I got on the scale, but it wasn't until I started having NSV's like: having to adjust my car seat closer to the steering wheel, realizing I could cross my legs without having to use my hand to assist getting my leg in place, buckling my seat belt without having to pull the belt all the way out to reach the buckle, and when I realized I had started bending over to put on my shoes instead of having to sit on the bed to get my foot close enough to my hands.

The first time I was on a plane that I did not need an extender was in Nov...i had my hubby take a pic...so I would have it..The table fit too..I always shared his when we were on a plane..

I was hurting my back driving my car and was told to pull the seat up...I always had the seat the farthest out and now it is the closest you can get....My hubby and I war over that now.....

I sat in the tiniest booth a couple of weeks ago..I always surveyed a restaurant to see if they had tables and chairs and left if they only had booths.....So many changes...So many amazing NSV.....I could never even count them all :)

I can't wait for all of these things! I have been avoiding booths for 5 years, in a seatbelt extender for longer, and have to take a brake between the flights of stairs in my town home.

It is going to start happening really soon trust me.....I was heavier then you are at first..So I worried about everything in the world..Now I hardly think about any of it...I am not at goal yet...but I am no longer so big that it stands out and they have to treat me with special things ...Like a larger wheel chair, wider seats, bigger beds...largest gown for tests at the hospital....it goes on and on!!!!!!!!!!

I am three weeks out. I started at 321, was 280 day of surgery. Yesterday I was 265. So I have lost 56 lbs. this week a lot of people have made comments about how I've lost weight, they can mostly tell in my face. In Sept I bought a couple 2x men's Tshirts, I had to stretch them out when I wore them, and constantly pull on them as I go. Huge NSV, two weeks ago I didn't have to stretch them out! Now they are really big on me! That's the biggest difference I've noticed. I'm still wearing yoga pants daily as they are most comfortable during this time of healing, so my clothing size hasn't changed (yet!)

I had many NSVs but it wasn't until about 10 months out that I felt significantly smaller. Even now, everyone sees me as thin but I still feel like I could lose about 30 more pounds. The mind is a funny thing!

I was close to your starting weight, HW 330, surgery weight 308, 6 months out I was 225. I am thrilled to have lost 100lbs finally! I've been a slow loser and have really struggled with body dystrophic. I still wore the same clothes until my fiancé had an intervention and made me toss the old ones. I think looking at before and afters (or during) is key. Also, flying on a plane after losing weight was crazy for me. Trying on old special event clothes (party dress) was a big wake up call to me. Taking measurements helps!

It's a process! I still sometimes forget that I'm not as big as I once was!

I'm looking forward to all of these things. I'm just so impatient. I should be happy that I've started the journey and the rest will come. I've already changed so much. I quit smoking, kicked my carb craving, decided to leave the job I hate for the one I really want even though it's less money, I'm tracking all of my food, not letting my sometimes boyfriend upset/mistreat me anymore, and soon I'm moving back to Texas where I really want to be. All within the last month. If I can add patience to this list, 2014 will really be the year of the NSV and SV for me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
