week 3 and I'm at a stall already

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I'm on the backside of week 3 and I've completely stopped losing despite excercise and low carb. Havent lost anything for at least a week. How can that be when I'm getting my protien and Water in and keeping carbs very low. Calories ranging between 500- 700 daily. I know I need more calories, but how os it possible in this phase of post-op? Start my day woth water and Vitamins, then soft food Breakfast includes; 1 egg with small amount of cheese or cottage cheese; Protein Shake mid morning; 1/4 of turkey burger with cheese (pureed); snack; shake; and dinner whatever meat and veggie(pureed) we've had for dinner. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all, and have a blessed day!

This may sound like a weird question but are you able to use the bathroom? I found when i was really stalled I was also really constipated and that seemed to add to the stall issue.

About the calories, How many calories are your shakes? How many grams of Protein are you getting?

Week three is famous for stalls! Hang in there!

I just had my 3 week post op. I have lost 27 lbs but they did specifically warn me that weeks 3-6 will not look the same. As body continues to heal and we graduate to more "food". The body goes into adjustment phase. I was told the steady, more consistent weight loss will kick in at 6 weeks.

Search stall on the forums, and you will find that what you are going through is completely normal and expected. Just about everyone stalls somewhere between weeks three and six. Remember, your body has been put through a lot these last couple of weeks, major surgery, major changes in your diet, etc. Right now it is saying whoa, I need to take a break and adjust to everything that is happening. I promise you, keep doing what you are doing and the weight loss will start reflecting on the scale again. Also, I always like to remind everyone to keep track of their measurements as well. While your scale may not be reflecting any changes, you still may be losing inches.

I have frequent stalls, the first of which started at Week 3. They can be frustrating as anything. As Susan says, track your measurements because you will still be losing inches like crazy. That is what keeps me going when the stubborn scale won't move!

Here's a great article on stalls from Butterthebean's signature line - it's worth a read:
http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html#.UtAIchaTNdg

I stalled for 13 days between Weeks 3 and 4. It sucked, but I got thru it. Stalls are going to happen, you need to keep working to your plan - follow your doctor's instructions with regard to diet and exercise (again, according to doc's approved exercises). Those are the things you can control.

I weigh once per week - my husband hides the scale the rest of the week - this helped my sanity.

Best of luck.

Welcome to our club. We ALL have stalls, I think. It's hard to stay motivated, but please keep up your great work. This will pass and you'll drop again, and you'll stall, and you'll drop...

Well, you get the picture!!!

I'm also in 3 week stall. I knew about it from reading so many posts on here. It's still discouraging to not see the scale move. We will get through it!

Thanks everyone! Some great encouragement and advice from all of you. I have been so excited about my weight loss so far

It freaked me out a bit when it just stopped for such a long period of time and I started over thinking again. Good to know that this is just part of it all.

I am in week three also and seem to have stalled. Still have pain eating my soft foods so I retreated back to my Protein Shakes. I am getting sick of those so I noted some others that are referenced on this site. I really appreciate everyone's contributions. This site has been a HUGE help.

I haven't had a stall where I stop losing for days. It every couple days the scale goes up almost a whole pound. The next day it is usually down a little lower that before the gain but I don't understand it. It's like two pounds forward, then one pound back.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
