November sleevers! 6 weeks out and feeling discouraged!

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow is 6 weeks since my sleeve and I lost 25 pounds. I think I should have lost more. I saw Family over the holidays and no one noticed any weight loss! Feeling discouraged! I hope I'm not doing anything wrong.

When was the last time you lost 25 lbs in 6 weeks? That's over 4 lbs a week! That's a great loss!!! I've lost just over 45 lbs and gone from an 18/20 to a 14/12 and people still dont say anything. You are still very early out and so far it sounds like your right where you should be. Just stick to your plan because it sounds like your doing great

I will be 5 weeks out on Wednesday and have had a fast weight loss, but I started at a really high weight. I still get discouraged because I have so far to go. The holidays were tough, especially when everything seems to revolve around food!

Actually, you're doing really well. I had not lost that much at 6 weeks. I am in my 11th week and I've lost 38 pounds. It's a slow go for some of us. I am confident it will work, it's just going to take more than I had hoped.

I am 6 weeks out and have lost 24 pounds. I think/hope I'm over a 13 day stall. (Please say prayers to the scale gods!) :o

Anywho...I was happy with my weight loss 2 weeks ago (pre-stall). I'm a little disappointed right now, HOWEVER, I know this a fact of how the body works. My body many not lose the weight in the amount of time I think it should - I can't control that. I CAN control these things:

1. What I put in my mouth

2. What I track in my food tracking journal (If you don't put it in there, did you really eat it?)

3. Exercise

4. Water

5. Meeting my Protein goal

There was an article that was posted last week about not comparing yourself to others - here's the link:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/daniela-tempesta-lcsw/comparing-yourself_b_4441288.html

With that said, I'm proud of those 24 pounds - I worked hard for those 24 pounds. During the past 6 weeks I recovered from surgery, tried to figure out the protein/water/eating schedule which requires a NASA engineer and an abacus to try to figure out, walked 54 miles on the treadmill in the month of December, and went back to work full time 6 days after surgery.

I've lost a total of 42 pounds since October 10th - no one has said anything about my weight loss. Seriously, no one has said anything. Well, one acquaintance asked if I got a haircut. I was really disappointed at Christmas when none of my family said anything. But you know what? I know what I've done and they'll notice soon enough.

Just focus on your plan - that's the best you can do. Do the hard work and it will pay off - maybe not in the timeframe you want, but there is a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow.

Hang in there, sweetie!!!

You have done really well. It takes time to get where you want to go and there will be stalls along the way. At least there were for me. I took 3 years to lose 91 pounds and get to goal. Now THAT is a slow loser. I bet you get it off faster than I did! I have to say though, 3 years is not too long to get the weight off. Off is off and thats were I want it to be however long it took! My doc said 10 pounds a month is normal. Just keep up the good work and your body will take care of the rest.

I'm 8 wks out tomorrow (monday) and stats: hw-250. Sw-239. Cw-213. 37 lbs so far total. I'm happy about it but it seems to be really slow. Stalled three times for about a week each

Don't fret about losing slow...seriously...your sleeve is going to work...remember your body has been thru a major surgery and we all recover in our own time...just stick to what you are doing and believe me in time people will notice your weight loss. This is an awesome tool for a healthier life. Hang in there! It is sooo worth it!!

I am 7 weeks out and I have lost 36 pounds. Seems that since I have started eating regular food my weight loss has slowed down. I am thinking about going to drinking two 30gram Protein shacks a day with a Protein Bar then a regular dinner at night. What you all think about that? Even thought about since I drive a truck during the day maybe taking some cut up veggies.

Thank you all for the encouraging words! It's so nice to have you all along with me on this ride! I did hit a stall at 2 weeks and it lasted alittle over 2 weeks. It was awful!!! But finally the scales started moving! I am having some issues with 3 things which could make a huge difference

1. Not getting to my Protein goal

2. Not reaching my Water goal

3. Sorry tmi but no bowel movements

I am trying to reach my protein goals but at 6 weeks it is still difficult. I'm probably getting half my water intake too! Could this be the reason it is going so slow? I haven't weighed myself in 2 days and I'm waiting until tomorrow! I go in to see my sleeve dr in Friday and my goal is a total of 30. I would be happy with 30lbs!! :)

I would follow your doc/nuts plan. The weight will slow down and speed up over time. A few slow weeks don't really merit a major overhaul of eating style. Stick with real food if you can, and use the drinks and bars to supplement your protein if you need to. Eating lots of bars and drinks tend to make your diet more "sweet" and that can lead to the desire for more sweet, even if its not sugar.... Sounds like you are doing well. Just keep it up!

I don't weigh myself. I try on clothes to gauge my success. I have lost 22 pounds and I am 6 weeks out. I just went back to work and no one said anything. Which is the way I want it. I'm hoping being a slow loser will help with the loose skin. I don't having any. Remember this is a life time journey. We are already successful! Hang in there!

I am 7 weeks out! Surgery was 11/12/13

HW: 259

SW: 242

CW: 225

I am currently at the beginning of week 4 of a major stall.

I am getting my Protein in, about half of my Water. I am trying to exercise more but that is slow going.

I have spoken with the dietitians at the bariatric center and they keep saying to be positive and trust the sleeve.

Anyone have any ideas? I am very discouraged!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
