  1. Sadly, I find myself with a gain as well....I know what I should do. Its just a matter of getting my mind set back. My surgery was September 10th 2012 and I just need to get back in the groove of taking care of myself once again. Life gets in the way sometimes with a new grandbaby or a husband that has health issues and you just want to take care of everyone but yourself. I have a bad habit of putting myself on the back burner. I still can't eat very much but I haven't been eating healthy. That is going to change...I am starting over tomorrow. I have 22 pounds to lose! Hello 5:2 plan.

  6. Have you tried a sugar free peppermint? That really worked the best for my nausea. I didn't have it as bad as you do....but it might be something that could work. Just a thought.
  7. I found keeping a bag of crushed ice on hand was the solution for me. It was so convenient. My hubby would go get it for me from the local Sonic Drive In. If you haven't tried this...it might work for you. I always keep a cup of ice handy nearby. Even now 3 years out from surgery, I still do this.

  9. What you're experiencing is totally normal. Believe me when I started the journey, I was gung-ho about getting this done and how much I was looking forward to feeling better...until the night before my surgery. I could not sleep, I was a total wreck...and that morning I even had an anxiety attack that I couldn't go through with the surgery...Luckily my husband sat me down and reminded me of all the effort I had put in to starting this new life. I realized he was right and wiped away those silly tears and had my surgery. BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE FOR MYSELF! I have no regrets. You won't either. Just follow your surgeons advice and take care of yourself, follow their program and you will be just fine! Go for it!

  12. First, don't panic. Go back to basics. Start logging everything you put in your mouth. And measure your portions too. If you're not exercising...put your walking shoes on and get active. Remember why you did this and get back on track. Don't lose your resolve to be healthier. Take those vitamins! Very important at this point to start back taking care of yourself. Your body went through a major shock...it's still adjusting to the changes. Do check in with your doctors office or nutritionist...they will have good tips for you too. Hang in there...everyone is different..this won't last long.

  14. I totally understand your nerves. I didn't sleep the night before my surgery...I kept telling myself I was being silly. I cried too. I even woke up that morning telling my husband I wasn't sure I could go through with it...LOL...but he calmed me by reminding me all the time I had spent getting ready for this and how bad I really needed to do this. I was 207 #s, with high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and bad knees. I am so thankful that I went through with the surgery. I stopped taking BP medicine the day I went home from the hospital. My surgery was Sept. 10, 2012. I have lost 63 #s. I weigh 144. My goal was originally 140. My experience has been a good one. I don't regret it one bit. It is a tool that I wish I had known about long ago. Good Luck on your journey!
  15. Well...if you haven't had any fever... I'm not a nurse but I would think you may be ok for surgery based on that. I had some congestion (allergies) right before my surgery and I was worried about anesthesia. It wasn't a problem. Hang in there! Good Luck!!
  16. You might ask if your surgeon provides you with an abdominal binder to wear after the surgery. Some surgeons don't. My surgeon did. It really helps in recovery time...and mainly gives you support which is helpful in getting in and out of bed and just walking around after the surgery. It helps with pain management. If you have to go back to work right away after surgery...the binder will keep you comfortable. Good Luck!!
  17. I had this same experience. I ended up changing the time of day I took them...that didn't help. So I ended up changing to a different brand. I started with Bariatric Advantage Vitamins...made me so nauseous....talked to my surgeon and got approval to use One a Day multi vitamins gummies. I also bought Nature Made b-12 and Vitamin D and Iron. You might check with your surgeon and see what they advise. Wouldn't hurt. Good Luck.
  18. Don't fret about losing slow...seriously...your sleeve is going to work...remember your body has been thru a major surgery and we all recover in our own time...just stick to what you are doing and believe me in time people will notice your weight loss. This is an awesome tool for a healthier life. Hang in there! It is sooo worth it!!
  19. I found keeping a cup of crushed ice nearby helped me to get my Water in...it also helps in the healing process as well. I would buy a bag of crushed ice from my local Sonic Drive-in....since the size of their crushed ice was perfect for my needs. You might try this method of getting your water in.

  21. Sugar free peppermint helped me....It worked so well for me I didn't take the Phenergan anymore...

  23. You might try some sugar free peppermints when you feel nauseous. And also be careful to chew your food at least 20 times before you swallow and wait a few minutes between bites. Slow down and don't eat too fast...I find that when I eat too fast it causes me to have issues.
  24. You might watch how the food is prepared...not too much butter or grease...or spice..keep it kind of bland. Give it some time...I ate soft scrambled eggs at first then went to sweet potaotes and regular baked potatoes...I didn't try anything to heavy for awhile. I boiled a variety of vegies. I ate meatloaf, salsbury steak, and eventually tried some tuna with light mayo. It just takes time. Hang in there. It will get better...and sooner than you think.
