one week out-question

Recommended Posts

I was banded on December 20th, so I'm a week out today. I had pretty much no pain after surgery. I was up walking a mile or so the day I came home. But I've noticed yesterday, and especially today when I woke up my pain was substantially worse. I looked in the mirror and most of my belly is yellow (I'm guessing its bruised?). Is it normal to be bruised all over like that? I called my surgeon and he said if its red or really swollen to go to the ER. He called me in some more pain medications. But it isn't red, and isn't more swollen than usually. I guess I'm just wondering is it normal to be in more pain later instead of the first few days? Any information would be appreciated.

It is normal to be bruised , however remember you are still recovering and if it was e I wouldn't be walking a mile 5 days out , and if you are not sure call your surgeon and ask if they him/her can take a lok to make sure everything is ok , also if it were e I would take it easy and just walk for a bit not a mile and with me I think it hurt more three days after , ya I started to feel normal again but I did not over excert myself and it did hurt till about a week later , so please have your surgeon look at you just to be safe.

Deep tissue bruising usually starts to surface after 4 days, so it is normal since your muscle, fascia and fat was excessively manipulated during surgery.

Pain/discomfort is the #1 feedback you should listen to when exerting yourself. If you feel it, slow down and/or stop. Exercise is not the focus at this time, give yourself another week for light exercise (ie walking) and up to 6 weeks for gym exercises. Your body needs to heal. If you overexert yourself you can cause an inflammatory response, weakened immune system/illness, increased pain/discomfort prolonging healing etc. Additionally your intake is poor and should be used for your body's essential energy needs to heal. Stay on top of your pain meds as needed, stay hydrated and take it easy.

Hi there, I had some pretty fancy bruises that were quite yellow around then -- and I was walking a lot, too. That was so good for me. Don't overdo it but keep moving! Left shoulder pain arrived for me about that time -- assuming it was trapped gas. I even did ice packs one day and that took the pain away. I used Tylenol and Ibuprofen rather than narcotics as they dont really agree with me -- did not want those side effects. As it was I was constipated and needed to address that which helped the overall profile. Hope you feel better and get a good night's sleep tonight -- sounds like you're doing beautifully, on your way to health and happiness for 2014!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
