Don't feel full three weeks post-op

Recommended Posts

I had the sleeve 3 weeks ago and nothing makes me full like I should be! Did I just waste all those days in the hospital for nothing?

My first few weeks I felt hungry all the time. For the past couple of weeks I have to remind myself to eat because the hunger has gone.

It's hard to have patience when you feel like crap! But trust me - every day it gets better

Lynzi, relax, until you are back on solids, you don't really feel the full effect of your sleeve - trust me, you will :-) in a few weeks time you may even be posting about how little you can eat compared to before, lol.

You haven't wasted anything but you need to be patient. Your stomach is likely to still be numb from surgery so be careful, you may not feel anything if you put too much in.

So stick to the plan you got from your surgeon, the time will pass and you will lose weight - and eat less!!!!

Merry Christmas

Thank you for this post! I'm a little over a week post-op and I've been doing well- getting Protein and Water in, however I have noticed that every night when I'm laying in bed, my stomach is growling and I feel so hungry. Also, when I eat, I stop at my 2oz, and I feel content, but I'm not getting this I'M STUFFED AND SO FULL feeling. Good to know that once we incorporate solid foods, we will see the full effect of our awesome sleeves! :)

I had the same thing and even had crazy thoughts like "did the surgeon actually do anything besides make the incisions?" As soon as I was on soft foods (crackers and cheese) I felt full really quickly. I couldn't even finish 5 crackers and a laughing cow cheese triangle!

Tomorrow will be two weeks or for me. Having the same issue. I have been told by my nutritionist and have read that after starting to eat some more substantial foods, I will start feeling satisfied with small amounts of food.< /p>

I felt the same way at first. I was so hungry for the first month. As soon as I started solid (not puree) food it was like someone flipped a switch. Weird.

The liquid (or even puréed) stuff you drink stays in your stomach (sleeve) for less than 5 minutes so of course you will never feel full until you get on solids. That is the main reason we can't drink and eat at the same time. Anything you drink will flush the solid food out of your sleeve quicker and you will get hungry sooner.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
