i want to go for sleeve. but will I loose weight? will it be a waste again? Its a major surgery, not reversible.

I do want to go for it. I am praying it works.

Guess every surgery is individual with every individual. If I were you I'd probably go to the sleeve forum and ask questions there because there are those over there who hae had band to sleeve revisions.

Will your insurance pay for all of it? Some insurances will not. I would check on this.

Best wishes

I guess it would depend on why your band didn't work for you. Were you compliant with your diet and did you exercise? Perhaps you should address this question to your doctor, he or she has your history and can best answer this for you. Best wishes :)

You can eat around the sleeve just as you can with the band... If you do not put the hard work in you will not see results no matter what surgery you get...

food for thought,

I would encourage you to try and follow the sleeve diet and exercise recommendations for at least 6 months before getting the surgery, you may not lose weight but it will help you identify if you are ready for those lifestyle changes. If you find you can't follow the nutrition guidelines or fit in the time for exercise that would be a good indicator you're not ready for the surgery yet.

BTW I would give this same advice to anyone considering any type of WLS.

All the veteran banders should read her thread! The more I read the other WLS forums, the more I realize that the problems that I see here have nothing to do with the band, but everything to do with what people expect from any WLS. Turns out the sleeve veterans get the same complaints about being "Mean" as the Banders who tell people to follow their Dr's orders.

I'm not sure about the band diet.. But with the sleeve success comes from eating a Protein and veggie dense diet. This is where some people run into problems.. they try to rely solely on the sleeve to lose the weight..

It's all about choices. As I always say "that sleeve isn't going to jump out of your stomach and slap that shit out of your hand"

We get lots of newbies that call themselves rebels or post things like "I know this is going to piss some people off" they then go into this whole thing about how they eat the same crappy things but just "tiny" amounts "hehehehe"..

Usually these people are in the first couple of months into their sleeve. We refer to this has the "honeymoon" period.

In the first six months the stomach is unbelievably small! It's still healing from the massive trauma and is irritated and swollen. Them bam 6 months hit and it relaxes to its true state (still incredibly small but bigger than a egg) this is where the lifetime of work comes in.. You see, I get full off of dense Protein but like the rest of the vets? Junk food, crap or as we call them "slider" foods, we can eat a ton of!

Yep just like the band you can eat around the sleeve.

So it's up to you, what you put in your mouth.

This is not a cure, we must still have willpower and some self control.

"That sleeve isn't going to jump out of your stomach and slap that **** out of your hand."

That may be the funniest and truest statement I've ever read on this forum. Lol. Love it. I may have to use that in the future. I will try to credit you. Lol.

That's the band diet too. Sounds like the same rules apply.

In the lap band veteran forum ive read that no ones following any particular diet plan, but eating whatever their band tolerates.

Was your band not filled tight enough to limit your food intake?

I have the worst junk food habit & ive not been able to kick it, even with the band.

But im tight enough now where it is impossible to eat an entire can of Pringles in one sitting the way I would at any other fill level less than 7.5.

And when my real clean foods are too dry to go down i turn to Sliders. shakes Ice Cream and anything my band "tolerates" and ive lost 7lbs this week doing so

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
