Five Weeks Out and Second Fill Today

Recommended Posts

Hi there and happy holidays all! Today I went for a follow-up appointment with the surgeon and had a second fill. The last one was a week ago today. I wasn't sure that I'd get another fill so soon as I am satisfied with a small amount of food. However I am hungry again after a couple of hours. My surgeon's goal is a serving the size of a tennis ball and not to be hungry again for 4-5 hours. We went for it, and, just like last week, it was very easy. I was glad to have him inspect the port site because it is tighter and harder now that it has some saline in it and I wondered if that is normal. Yep. He marked the site with a pen then cleaned the area with alcohol and gave me a shot. That is a pinch. Then he did the fill and, voila, I was drinking my little glass of Water to make sure it went down well. It did. I am not feeling hungry at all, but what I am feeling is GRATEFUL. And HAPPY! I am so relieved to be out of food jail and able to just make good decisions without the input of a committee in my brain telling me what I should and should not do. All that chatter has really dissipated. Yippee!

So you had 2 fills in 5 weeks from surgery? Do you know how much total that is?

Serving size that of a golf ball...would that be your entire meal? Or the size of say, the Protein portion....

I know my Dr. always made a fist and said whatever I eat, it should be smaller than that....and it generally is.

Today was one of those days I could not eat much more than a golf ball size. for dinner.....

Anyway...it sounds like your Dr. is aggressive....mine is too and I always liked that....no fooling around. Once the surgery was completed, made no qualms what the next step was....and goal was to get there.....

Hi B-52, not sure how many cc's total for these two fills -- have an appointment next week as well which I can cancel if I'm feeling satisfied on the tennis ball size every 4-5 hours. I like your fist comparison -- that is helpful. I think it's about 3/4 cup to one cup. Am trying to go slow and be careful to stop before full. I have had to spit out food a few times when I realized that one more bite might be one too many. Trying to refocus my energy on exercise, which I'm pretty sure is the magic ingredient.

Great to hear you are doing well. I'm 8 weeks post op and I've also had 2 fills. My PA is being aggressive. I have a little over 5 cc's in my 10 cc band. The 3 weeks between fills were rough and I gained 4 lbs back. Since my fill last week, those 4 have come off plus another 2. Feeling more in control again. I don't know about you, but I think I can get through the holidays and face the new year with my head up high! Cheers to us!!

Hi KC, we have very similar stats, too -- amount we want to lose, etc. Like you I am not feeling afraid of the holidays, etc. And I'm not stressing about how long this may take. Isn't the feeling in control a wonderful thing!? Cheers to us!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
