Hi guys! My surgery date is on December 18th. I'm excited but really scared. I keep thinking "how is this going to be any different from past diets?" I know this isn't a diet, but a lifestyle change but in my past with diets I use to be extremely irritable and that was my downfall because I was irritable from not being able to eat foods that I liked or wanted. I'm trying hard to figure out how to make sure this time is different. I guess I took the first step by realizing and acknowledging it. Now I just have to figure out a coping mechanism that I can put into play when those hiccups surface.

My surgery is on December 18. My liquid diet starts on the 4 th. I am very happy it's almost here and I am so excited but yet scared to death.

Good luck! I'm on the 18th too. Just did all my pre op testing yesterday. I know everything I need to at this stage but I am feeling so unprepared for some reason

Were you all required to do a pre op diet? I had my pre surgery screening a couple of days ago and they only said I needed to drink clear liquids the day before and nothing after midnight on the day of the surgery. It just seems like many are required to do the pre op diet.

Was done on the 9th and yesterday was tough but my focus was to stay hydrated which I did! Only a few spoonfuls of protein yesterday going to try more today. Gotta say it has been rough.

I was also only required day before clear liquids and npo after midnight. Each doc different I guess. My surgery is Monday!

My surgery is scheduled for December 31, 2013 in the OC (Orange County, Ca). Couldn't think of a better way to celebrate New Years Eve and bring in the new year with hope of a healthier and happy new year :-)

Day 2 was the worst for me, and they just released me and I'm now home on day 4 post op. Feeling much better, and the gas pain is tolerable, but man me and this new stomach have some serious issue to work out on the toilet LOL. I seriously understand why they say never trust a fart! ha ha. But being serious, I'm feeling much better today, got a good rest last night for the first time in a few nights and just keeping track of my fluid and protein intake now...I have to keep remembering to tell myself to slow down when I'm sipping a shake, as it seems to go down very easy. Haven't been sick yet so that is good. Good luck to those who are coming up in December and to those of you who are over the hump in post-op!
