  1. I am 10 days post op and I am a stomach/side sleeper. All night I was tossing and turning because of a pain I was experiencing on my left side under my rib cage. It hurts more when I take a deep breath and I'm just wondering how common this might be and does it eventually go away? I've read elsewhere that it might be scar tissue forming. The pain is directly above one of my incisions. I was already at the hospital yesterday for a CT scan and nothing was found. This was because I had shoulder pain. This pain right under my rib cage is something new.
  2. Hi, just wondering if there are any other members from western NY on here? I have been searching high and low for other sleevers who are from around here. I am from Rochester and I will be getting sleeved in mid December. My doctor is Dr. O'Malley. I have found a lot of patients who have seen Dr. O'Malley but they were all for either lap band or gastric bypass. It actually started to worry me that there weren't any VSG patients. Just because I wonder his success rate with these patients in particular and I can't find anyone who has seen Dr. O'Malley for VSG. Hmm.....
  3. Although I do not live in South Carolina, my husbands employer goes through them for insurance for his employees. I can't find anywhere that says bcbs of sc covers gastric sleeve. I know they will cover the band and gastric bypass because those two procedures are listed on their website when I log in. Now I'm worried sick. I don't want the lap band or gastric bypass. Does anyone here have bcbs of sc that can tell me whether or not they will cover the gastric sleeve?
  4. Gross subject, I know! But I have not been able to have a bowel movement since the night before surgery which was on Tuesday night (12/17), so 5 days. At what point do I worry about this? I was not allowed any foods at all on 12/17 (only liquids) or the day of the surgery which was 12/18 and I didn't get my first sip of Water until 12/19 and later that night I was given a chocolate Protein shake. Since that time I have been drinking 2 Protein shakes a day, plus water and about 1/4 cup of low fat yogurt. I haven't been very gassy either and not peeing much.

    Easter's Challenge

I haven't been able to get on here lately, I've been so busy. Please don't remove me from the challenge. Today's weight was 145 (which I am super happy about because it seems like I had been in a weight stall for a while now and the scale is finally moving again in the right direction).

    Valentine's Challenge

No weight loss this week. Still 149.
  9. I just got done watching the biggest loser finale and I gotta say it feels pretty good to know I beat the at home prize winner. Jordan lost 44.??% , I lost 45.87% since starting this journey. It sure isn't easy but its worth it. When I first started out I could barely walk for 10 minutes before being out of breath and needing to rest. Now I walk anywhere from 12 to 15 miles a week on my treadmill, plus an additional 2.5 to 3 hours of stretching exercises each week. It's much more difficult to lose the weight now but as long as I can see some improvement it keeps me going and motivated. I know stalls will happen, I just have to keep pushing forward because I never want to be so unhealthy ever again.

    1 year anniversary!

Congrats on your weight loss. It looks like we were sleeved on the same day. I just celebrated my 1 year surgerversary yesterday too. And had my 1 year check up yesterday as well.

    Holiday Challenge!

Today's weight: 152 which also means I am no longer considered 'obese' by the medical community. I had my 1 year surgerversary yesterday and I also had my 1 year check up yesterday. It felt great to be told I was considered a success in the program.

  20. Celebrated my daughter's birthday last week and you would have thought I was the star of the show, not her. A lot of people who were there had not seen me in a while, some that haven't seen me since before surgery. Everyone was raving about how good I looked, many had their jaws to the ground and just couldn't believe it. I have lost over 100 lbs and worked hard to get here so it felt pretty good to get all the compliments. Keep working hard, you'll there too (if you haven't already) and it'll be well worth all your hard work. Keep your head in the game!

  23. I think I've done just about everything I needed to do before the surgery date. Currently I just completed my 4th NUT visit and I have 2 more left, one in Sept & Oct. Next week I go to see a sleep specialist. Will they require me to sleep there to see if I have sleep apnea? So after my last NUT appointment in October do I get to make an appointment with the surgeon to schedule a surgery date? and how long does it usually take to get the surgery after meeting with the doctor? how far out in advance are they usually scheduling or does that vary greatly? I am really hoping I can get a surgery date before the end of the year, only because I have already met my deductible and out of pocket max for the year for health insurance. If I have to wait till 2014' I'll end up having to pay out a lot more money.
