Popped Incision Open While Overexerting Myself

Recommended Posts

Ok, ok... so let's forego the, 'Josh is an idiot comments'.... Keep in mind I'm 18 days post surgery. I was working on my car today and as I was laying on the ground stretching to reach the oil plug I felt a pop. Turns out I popped one of my incisions wide open.

2.5 weeks out and still open incision

Let this be a warning to all who think they don't need to take it easy after surgery!!

Damn they told me you can't pop anything you just have small stab wounds. I will be careful for a while. Congrats on your loss

hahahah nice one

I just underwent cosmetic surgery. All the incisions are healed except my right arm (from arm lift). There was increased irritation in the armpit area and it started to swell. So much so that the swelling caused the incision to come apart. I think the fact that you are constantly rubbing your armpit area, putting pressure on it when sleeping, and the arm is mobile doing everyday tasks it's a sure setup for irritation. Just wanted to share how delicate incisions can be and you really do need to be careful.

PS They look nastier than they are. Clean with regular soap/water, put polysporin on it and nonsticking gauze on it until it heals. Takes several weeks for it to heal from the inside out. End result won't be as bad as you may think looking at it from this stage :) But do keep a careful eye to ensure it doesn't become infected. Wound care gets ugly real quick.

If I were you, I'd call your doctor, just to be safe. The last thing you need is an infection there, you know? Happy healing :)

Definitely. Sometimes when incisions come open it's cuz something was keeping them from healing in the 1st place and coming open was inevitable.

Yikes! Thanks for the warning. Hope you get medical care for that ASAP. Can you be knighted for this? Definitely looks like a sword fight wound. I really wanted to be banded late summer -- started process in June and felt like it dragged on -- but it's probably a good thing I got an early November date as I am a serious gardener and can imagine getting caught up in a task and overdoing it. This is a good cautionary tale but I'm sorry you have to go through it. Best wishes!

Yeah, definetly see your doctor. I had an incision open up the day I got my sutures removed, and let me tell ya, the after care involved was long (4 months) and I had a nurse come see me everyday to change my bandages (it had to be packed, so it would heal from the inside first) So yeah, don't wait to get it checked. Hope it heals quickly. Best wishes :)

Ok, went to Dr yesterday, they packed it & redressed it with one of those clear bandages they use right after surgery. I go back Thursday to have it re-evaluated... This is what I get for trying to save a lil money & change my own oil lol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
