This Can't Be Right...nearly 1 Month Out And 5 Lbs Lost

Recommended Posts

I anticipate needing a thigh lift/lower body lift. I have always had disproportionately large thighs. My goal weight is the same weight I was at age 11 (big child). I could totally deal with baggy and saggy tummy I could tuck in or cover...but I'd love to be able to wear a skirt just above knee length or a pair of shorts. My thighs are so large that I'll be left with serious sagging. Im prone to stretch marks and my skin has little elasticity so I should really start saving for surgery!

I love a short skirt my thighs have always been Huge also I would never put on a long skirt lol but they are much smaller not to saggy but my arm and stomach that another thing I don't care I'm 35 oh well I know I will never have a flat stomach never really cared a smaller flabby one I'll take lol

Ita really awesome to meet other slower losers. It can get so depressing seeing/reading about others huge losses and wonder why your body isn't doing the same. I've now learnt that comparing myself to others stops me from focusing on my own journey. We'll get there...albeit a little slower than others. Maybe our concerns are unfounded and our weightloss may amp up further down the track.

Maybe we slow losers should start our own thread so we can keep encouraging each other and other people who are worried they're not losing as fast as others can see it easily and be reassured they're not alone :-)

Thankyou! It's wonderful to also get feedback and support from those more experienced and much further out in this insane journey. Its good to hear that a person with goal in sight also battled slow losses.

I'm now 4months post op & only lost 57 lbs so far & still get stalls so be patient. .

I stalled for 12 days starting in week 2, and then stalled again for a week at 6 weeks out. Im 10 weeks post op and as of this morning Im down 45lbs! Keep the faith no matter how hard. It WILL come off. We are all so beaten up emotionally about the scale moving down due to our issues with weight :( it's hard to have faith in losing when we have all gained so much before. Just keep looking up success stories and think positive!

Also feeling a lot more energetic and I took my measurements and ive lost a good amount of inches - I cant wait till my huge size 11W feet start to shrink. Oh to be a mere size 10 regular shoes!

That's wonderful news!! So if you weren't weighing yourself, your clothes would've told you you're doing it all right!! Sounds like you had a great convo with your med team. Time and time again, I've heard "do exactly what they tell you, and it will work!" keep the faith...and enjoy the new food!

I've noticed that 'slow losers' are still losing at a rate next to impossible before surgery. Slowly, steadily, over time the weight is coming off. Isn't that the most important thing? I was impatient at first, even though I had read all the posts and was aware of the different rates of weight loss and the variables involved. I was hoping I would be that one that melted off 100lbs in three months. I have never had a long stall and the weight is going steadily downward. I'm in a place I've never been before - size 12 slacks and medium tops. I can squeeze into 10's and expect to be there comfortably in a few weeks. I'm six months out next week and I've lost 87 pounds! I am VERY pleased and happy with my results, to say the least!

Pre-op weight 233 (5' tall - I looked like a weeble!)

Size 22-24 - very tight

Size 2x tops

Surgery date 5/30

Current weight 146 :-)

Something to consider - perhaps a slower loss will result in better skin tone and less loose skin because you're not losing so fast?

I am losing at a rate slower than I often would when dieting before RNY. But you're right...consistent weight loss, whatever the rate is the most important thing and thats why I chose WLS to help me. I could lose 50-60 lbs in the past, but it always came back with interest. I guess at the start ( week one) I assumed I should be losing 5-15 lbs per week like some of the others on here. I was also a little anxious that I'd taken such a drastic "last resort" measure and that it may not work. Ive failed miserably at getting anywhere near a healthy weight since I was 12 (im now 34). I need this to work.

Of course ive quickly realized that playing comparisons is futile and the most important part is focusing on my plan and my own individual journey. Im much more relaxed about my progress now. And yep. ..im hoping the slower loss helps maintain skin tone that's for sure!

Thanks for posting. It's great to hear from someone who was also impatient at the start who lost consistently and is now rocking size 12...soon to be 10! I can't wait for the day I can say the same thing. I can't imagine it! I haven't been that size since I was a child.

There are so many variables (age, amount to lose, gender, is this a revision or first surgery, etc.) as to whether one is a slow loser or not. Is it temporary stall, will our loss speed up and are we weighing ourselves too often are all questions I ask myself. I'm 7 weeks post op, have lost 20 pounds post op (52 total so far). I thought I was a slow user until this past week when 1/4 of my post op loss happened. I've never lost so much weight in a week before. Trying to take the long view and trust that if I follow the guidelines, I'll lose. Plus these 52 lbs are now gone forever! Reason to Celebrate for sure!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
