My surgery is Dec 3rd and I am super anxious about it. Help!

For me what worked to calm my nerves was to go back over the reasons that I wanted/needed surgery. If you forget those reasons it does become more nerve racking. Just keep them in the front of your mind so that you can think of them when ever you get nervous.

My surgery date is 12/10 and I'm freaking out. Worried about getting a leak ...

I start my 3-week pre-op diet on 11/19 and will be hosting Thanksgiving while doing that.

I wavered back and forth until I was approved. Then, I was lucky enough to get a surgery date in under two weeks. So I kind of feel like it went fast enough that I couldn't completely lose my mind worrying about it.

You're going to do great.

I was the same way, I freak out completely out about everything, like if i was going to lose enough weight pre-op and etc.

Now, everything went great & 5 days post out and its been the best thing ive done for my self in a long time.

Okay Mrs. Neicey we can be a little anxious together. My surgery date is December the 2nd. I'm more of a ball of mixed emotions. I think that my husband is going to choke me if I talk about it one more time. I feel as if I'm obsessing over it. I'm trying to keep myself busy. But in the middle of every other thought is something about this surgery. I thought waiting for my approval was bad, nope. Let's try focus on all that lies ahead. We can lean on each other through the next three weeks. Hang in there!

Sweety if you weren't nervous, it would be weird. But you've done your research, you've chosen your surgeon, you are getting together your diet for pre and post op.... You're ready!! It's normal to be nervous. But just think of what an improvement this will be to your life. To be honest, a few weeks before surgery I started online shopping at stores that only carry "normal" sizes and piecing together outfits for my new and improved smaller figure. Then I saved them in my favorites and can't wait till I'm ready to buy them! That really helped get me excited and overcome the anxiety. You are going to do beautifully and you are making the right choice. We are so fortunate to have the ability to have this surgery it really is a blessing. You'll do great! Good luck.

I can imagine ur anxiety....I'm only on my last appointment before submission and I am completely obsessing over it every moment. I have been at work for the past 3 hours and have not yet looked away from this site.

It's completely overwhelming me now that I see an "approval" in my very near future...i have definitely worn my support system out with fears, concerns and possibilities...lol, but they listen! I love them for that!!

I feel like I feel every pound I drop and have to tell someone, show someone or zone out and fantasize about the next pound. What's crazy about all this is I've never ever been obsesses with my weight, I actually loved myself so much, I never noticed how out of hand It had gotten...but now, i see a better future for myself and ANTICIPATION is my middle name!!!

Now, i'm on here to bug you guys with every waking thought...submission for me is 1/31/14 and im counting the seconds...lol

Hello,

I am new and I decided not to share my story until I had finished my 6 month journey and I am a wreck because I don't know what is going on with my papers, I am assuming they have been submitted but I am unsure because the one who does it have not returned my calls and no one else in the office "knows" on top of my finishing 12/2/13 and it is 1/6/14 and still no decision have been made and if so I have not received a phone call or a letter from anyone and the program cord. said if you get denied the appeal process is very long ( she said it in a way that it is not even worth trying to appeal)

So my question is with Medicaid how long is the denial process?

I am not looking forward to being denied, I just want to be prepared..

Yeah this does seem strange. You should be able to know how long u should be waiting for a response. I have Kaiser mid Atlantic and we have to complete the 6month process also and we submit at my next and last visit and was told that the board meets every 2 weeks.Good luck, maybe no answer is better then the wrong answer!! Be calm but start calling!!!

This was funny because that day she called to let me know she was submitting my papers while i was on the phone and 3 days later I was approved and my surgery date is Feb 5

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
