My surgery is tomorrow and I am so nervous! I have to be at the hospital at 5:45! Holy cow, I only have 6 hours to drink anything! Ahh! I'm excited but my husband has been saying things like "you better make it through this" and "Please don't die" He is really freaking me out! I told him he is suppose to be the support system here! I've got my dishes and laundry done, childcare set up, bills paid, cashiers check in my purse, groceries in the house, and my bags packed. I just hope I'm not forgetting anything! Does anyone have any advice for a scared soon to be post op? Did anyone else have doubts the night before? I saw a cookie in the kitchen and thought that if I ate it I wouldn't have to get an IV in a few hours, lol.

I just started my preop diet. I have been having those feelings for the past few days so I can image how it will feel when I get to the night before. The biggest thing is I keep telling myself is that this is the start of a new life. It's my reset button. Good Luck.

Take a deep breath and relax. Tomorrow will come and go and you'll be on the loser's bench and if feels so good! I had my surgery 2 weeks ago. I had a minor bleeding complication which kept me in the hospital for a week but even so I would do it all over again. The scale is moving downward and my clothes are all baggy. It's normal to be nervous and apprehensive. Good luck!

Don't forget to breathe, lol. I am so excited for you, good luck. Everyone's different, first couple of weeks can be tough - but nothing you won't be able to handle. You sound like a down to earth, organised girl, take the same attitude to being sleeved and you will succeed.

As for your husband, he's watching all of this and probably feels helpless, so you are getting all of his fears off loaded on to you. But I bet he will be supportive post op.

Let us know how you are once you have joined us on the sleeved side :-))))

You will do great! I was terrified the night before thinking I would back out but surprisingly as I walked into the hospital that morning I was excited and ready to start my new life. I am loving life these days. I am one year post op, down almost 100 pounds and I do things I never imagined I would do (i.e., run a 5k, chase after my kid, go hiking, etc.) Good luck and keep us all posted on your progress! I assure you it is the BEST decision you will ever make for yourself!

Wishing you lots of luck! Mine isn't until the 4th of December, but I got my date today and I've been a nervous wreck since lol :) You'll do great!

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
