Is anyone else waiting on their insurance? I have blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming and am waiting to see if I qualify. Honestly I think this might be the worst part!

So far, waiting for approval was the worst part. I have Cigna and it took 2 weeks for approval and it seemed like eternity. Good luck

I agree this is the WORST!!!! We submitted to insurance on the 24th (last Thursday) and they said it could take up to 15 business days, although it is rarely that long. I'm freaking out!!! Technically, I could have to wait until 11/14 to hear an answer! Ugh... I'm praying to be sleeved over xmas.

I'm with BCBS of Texas and there was no waiting or even asking. They said a big, fat NO upfront. They won't pay a cent on any WLS here. I hope it's better up there in Wyoming. Good luck!

I would SO love the particulars because I called and they said no way, no how, under no circumstances. My surgeon's office called as well and the insurance is only chipping in a part because of the severe hiatal hernia my surgeon found that needs immediate attention. Please! My surgery date is 1/6/14 because I have to come up with thousands before they'll do it.

It depends more on whether your employer has chosen to include it in their plan benefits, and not the actual insurance company. Most of the major ones cover WLS if the employers have paid to have it in their plan.

Incidentally, this is how the 6 month medically supervised diet requirement works as well. Your employer (not your plan) determines what hoops you will have to jump through before approval. That is why there are so many varied results with similar healthcare plans.

It's helpful to obtain the list of covered benefits from your HR department...

Why did they deny you? I was approved with them in less than a week.

They said they don't cover it with a diagnosis of morbid obesity. I don't have a diagnosis of morbid obesity. I am doing it for help with PCOS. They said I could appeal that... but then said no.

Thanks for the replies, btw. I'm not too familiar with the intricacies of insurance. All I know is that they are constantly out to screw me over and I hold everything they say and do in high suspicion.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
