November fitness challenge

Hey fitness freaks....and wannabe freaks. Time for the November installment of the fitness challenge. To try to be more inclusive and get more participation, I'm going to open things up in a new way.

The point of this challenge is to set a goal for yourself for the month of November. A fitness goal which will be challenging.....slightly more than you know you can do, more than you did last month. The goal needs to be a concrete measurable goal. The goal can be miles run, walked, biked, swam, ellipted or paddled....or a combination of all of them. But it can also be a goal of hours of exercise. 30 hours of exercise in a month is a challenging goal for many people. It can also be a specific exercise if you prefer....like 3000 squats and 1000 push-ups. Whatever it is, make it challenging, not easy. As I always say, growth and comfort cannot coexist. You want to be slightly uncomfortable. The goal should challenge you...make you slightly nervous as to whether or not you can reach it. Then....GO FOR IT!

Introduce yourself and spell out your goal for the month. Then come back here everyday or as often as you can and update the group as to your current progress toward your goal. Whether or not you make your goal is not the point. The point is to push yourself just a little further than you thought you could go.

I'll start. I'm only 4 weeks post op from my TT so not back to 100% yet, but I anticipate getting stronger as the month goes on. So my goal for November is to walk/run 60 miles. That's double what I'm going to do this month, so a challenging goal. Wish me luck.

Please join in and get moving.

Ok I am just starting exercising since my surgery on 9/16 due to some complications. Let's say 20 hrs this month.

I'm going to go with 150 miles on the bike, AND logging in frequently enough to actually participate in the thread.

I think I would like to start running this month as well, if I can get the courage up to actually get outside and do it. Kinda silly, I guess, to be scared of running but I am!

Check into the C25K app if you want to start running. It's a great program for a beginner.

I actually just finished downloading that app! It looks totally doable to me, I might actually give this a shot. :)

I got in 3.2 miles of bike riding today. I thought good for 9 days post-op. I really wanted to get in one more ride. My ride today will probably be my last ride of 2013. After surgery tomorrow I am restricted from riding for 6 weeks, and unsure how the weather will be after 12/16 release date. Any rides after that date will be restricted to weekends and holidays since it is dark by the time I get home from work.

I start my walking program later this week. Depends on how I feel after tomorrow's surgery.

Hi I'm in but only for the next 17 days... My surgery is on November 21!!! I plan on getting my miles in by heading to the gym and walking on the treadmill for 30-45 min a day. And then look out cause I can't wait until I get cleared to head back to the gym after my surgery! Good luck everyone on the November challenge!

Today was another spend day with kids day. Went to church, played littlest pet shops and made bracelets. Only 2 miles total of 10.21. Getting a bit anxious about surgery on Tuesday spending time with my girls feels right!

wait..you have ANOTHER surgery? I hope all is well.

15.3 miles today!!! 29.8 total! Whew! Tired. :)

Dang...wish I had seen this post. I would have met up with you just to say hello and shake the hand of the man that inspired me to get my arse moving by issuing a challenge. Hope you had a good time.

Born in Shreveport! Hometown Bossier!! Small world. Have lifelong friends and family there that I talk to and see!

Gamegirl,

Haven't you heard of the surgery of the month club? Lol. I had this one originally scheduled in September and it had to be cancelled. I had to get my sleeve surgery and another doctor's visit taken care of before this one could happen. Last week my social calendar revolved around seeing doctors. After tomorrow, I don't have a scheduled doctor appointment until November 19th.

Thanks,

Rita

5.5 miles today for a total of 12.5 miles. That was done on the exercise bike. I didn't make it out for my walk today. I was having tummy issues and took a nap after work. But that bike is sitting right here calling to me to get up off my back side! The bike won! Ha! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Exciting! I'm Georgia too! Not a lot of us around!!! Welcome to the challenge!

A little more than half way through my goal for month. Did a Century ride on Saturday so that knocked out 101.8 miles. One more ride like that and i can take the rest of the month off
