November fitness challenge

Hey fitness freaks....and wannabe freaks. Time for the November installment of the fitness challenge. To try to be more inclusive and get more participation, I'm going to open things up in a new way.

The point of this challenge is to set a goal for yourself for the month of November. A fitness goal which will be challenging.....slightly more than you know you can do, more than you did last month. The goal needs to be a concrete measurable goal. The goal can be miles run, walked, biked, swam, ellipted or paddled....or a combination of all of them. But it can also be a goal of hours of exercise. 30 hours of exercise in a month is a challenging goal for many people. It can also be a specific exercise if you prefer....like 3000 squats and 1000 push-ups. Whatever it is, make it challenging, not easy. As I always say, growth and comfort cannot coexist. You want to be slightly uncomfortable. The goal should challenge you...make you slightly nervous as to whether or not you can reach it. Then....GO FOR IT!

Introduce yourself and spell out your goal for the month. Then come back here everyday or as often as you can and update the group as to your current progress toward your goal. Whether or not you make your goal is not the point. The point is to push yourself just a little further than you thought you could go.

I'll start. I'm only 4 weeks post op from my TT so not back to 100% yet, but I anticipate getting stronger as the month goes on. So my goal for November is to walk/run 60 miles. That's double what I'm going to do this month, so a challenging goal. Wish me luck.

Please join in and get moving.

WOWZERS! You are SKINNY! Your wife is very lovely. Great looking couple!

Rode my bike five miles out to Boscov's and picked up $400.00 worth of too small spring/summer clothes for $43.91.. I'm starting to feel comfortable at my weight and I needed some motivation to get back to losing!

You're doing well!!

Hang in there. I've had several days like that and I felt like I was being "lazy" even though I was in so much pain I couldn't walk! I had to give myself a stern talking to. You'll be back when you can.

Thanks, I hope this is over quickly! I really haven't been sick much since surgery and it just feels awful! Lol

Two hours cycling / 23 miles.

I love when you post about riding your bike. Not only have I forgotten how to ride one, but I'm very self conscious of trying to learn again. I read your posts and it gives me hope that I too may be out there some day in my bike :)

Okay +2 mile and +30 s plank for total of 3 miles and 56 seconds of planking :) Sent from my iPhone using VST

Same as yesterday and my new fitbit is here! Yay!

MTD: 5 miles and 86s of planking. Haven't been able to psych myself up did c25k still. I had such a flare up last time. Ugh. Need to try again soon.

Shreveport? I'm going to a wedding there tomorrow. My SIL and her husband live in bossier city.

Dang...wish I had seen this post. I would have met up with you just to say hello and shake the hand of the man that inspired me to get my arse moving by issuing a challenge. Hope you had a good time.

Hey everyone! Hope everyone had as great a weekend as I did. I didn't get in a bike ride in like I was hoping...oh well. I got in 2 miles on Saturday and 3 miles today. That puts me at 8.85 miles for the month so far. Time to step it up and kick it into the next gear! Have a great week everyone!!

I didn't get any workout swimming in this weekend, but I didn't plan on it. I did take my nieces, nephew, and son to the pool today, and I chased then around the pool for a few hours. I actually felt guilty because I never did that for my son when he was younger :(

I swam on Friday and had a fantastic swim, doing a mile plus 4-8 laps (can't wait until my lap counter arrives!!). 33 laps is a mile so Im really happy with my progress. The kicker...Im looking forward to Monday morning to get my swim on!

Do you wear a cap when you swim? My hair turns if straw when I go into the water anymore.

No, I have too big of a head and too much hair lol I use expensive chlorine remover shampoo and an expensive conditioner. My hair stylist has me wet my hair and put a little conditioner in my hair before I get in the pool and also I do a home olive oil treatment weekly on my hair (I also don't color my hair).

It's worth it because I have bad ankles and the pool lets me work as hard as I want, and Im still able to walk afterwards lol

Can I ask what brand?

Although the rate this is going, I'll be bald from hair loss pretty soon and won't have to worry about it anyway. Sigh.

Biolage is the one Im using now. It's the Step 3 impurity remover. I also will use one called Bumble and Bumble, and also liked Paul Mitchell's Step 3 Impurity remover. I find my hair is more responsive to shampoos if I switch them up, so I pretty much rotate between the 3.
