I think it all depends on the person. At 3 months, mine were still pretty noticable, but it didn't stop me from going to the swimming pool. I didn't care.

At about a year post you would have to know where to look to notice them.

after some weeks start using something like Medurma, once 3 weeks or twice and at some time do the full course, you'll have tiny scaring which blends because the color is translucent not red and purple-ish.

My scars are hideous! Really they are raised and red and very noticeable....

I'm 11 months out. Not one of the lucky ones BUT I wouldn't trade them for the world at this point, because of those scars I am happy and on my way to being fit :)

I'm 10 months out and can't see them in the mirror. Very lucky in that aspect .. Now if I could only NOT see my legs in the mirror I would be a happy woman.

I am African American and keloiding is more common. It happened to me with my lap band surgery five years ago and the scars have gotten better but are still quite noticeable. My surgeon tried to revise them a little when he did my sleeve but they are still quite noticeable. I am five months out.

I have been using silicone sheets. At 10 weeks my scars are still pink, but very flat.

I'm five months out. I have issues with my skin not healing well, and I'm allergic to steri-strips and bandaid adhesive so they had to use just glue on me. I have a few spots that have bigger scars from scabs versus just the lines of the incisions. But I agree with laura-ven in terms of not trading them for being fat! I think I have stretch marks from fat that are worse than some of the scars. And they'll fade, or I will continue to not care. My flabby arms are going to be more of an issue (flying south could be an option)... and I'm working out regularly :)

I've always been told that cocoa butter cream works great on scars.

Ok I've been meaning to post pictures of my scars and my not perfect belly...

And this seems to be as good as a spot as any.

Most scars I see here look great..

Mine are extreme so don't let it scare you.

Mine pretty much match yours Laura-v. Except I still have 70 lbs to lose so my belly is bigger. :-/

Laura, so you have "war wounds". The belly and hips are cute, so a good trade IMHO!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
