Surgery is set for Monday at 11am.. Feeling anxious and excited! I'm a little nervous about what to expect when I wake up and excited about this new chapter of my life. Tomorrow I am all clear liquids...please keep me in your prayers...

Donna66, I was banded on the 30th. Yes, the last 72 hours before banding are a bit crazy with all the thoughts going through your head. Just hang in there because you will be fine. So far, I am doing very well and feel much more at peace with my decision now that I am "post" surgery

HI!

You're finally there! It's an exciting time as you start something new. Be proud that you stepped up and intervened on your own behalf. Remember as you go thru the first weeks of healing and getting used to be being banded, lots of us have gone thru what you're going thru. It will be really exciting to see the weight drop off! I found the first 2 weeks after banding to be the hardest because I was still on Clear Liquids. But there were many rewards waiting to be had after that! It's sort of like waiting for Christmas as a little kid.

I hope you'll write and let us know how your surgery goes!

Remember to take a small pillow with you to put between you and the seat belt on the way home. A roll of paper towels works well, too.

See you on the banded side!

Donna66, good luck today, you are probably in your procedure or about to head in if your timing worked like mine. I was banded a week ago tomorrow, and as with any surgical procedure, there are apprehensions going in. The docs may perceive this as as being 'routine', but it is never routine when it is happening to you!. The worst part of the trip was the ride home, my wife was trying to avoid every bump and pothole .. I told her that swerving out of the way of a pothole and getting in a wreck was not worth it! I had a little discomfort and slept a lot the first two days, just take your pain meds and rest up while your body recovers. I am back at work on day 6 but I have a job where I mostly work from my home office, so I have the ability to get comfortable and still get some things done. I hope your experience post op is as good as mine has been, pain is gone, only thing lingering a bit is some lower back pain, likely from some lingering gas. The gas was the most uncomfortable part!

Hope things go well for you over the next few days as you start your new journey!

Made me laugh. My ride home was an adventure also. :)

Then I had terrible back pain for a couple of days.

Thank you all for the comments..I got home today and honestly I feel pretty good.. Mild discomfort and a little gas but other than that I feel really good. Not too hungry but I got down a sugar free ice and some tea and coffee so far. Tried a sugar free Popsicle but I could only eat 1/2 before I felt full.. Sipping Water, although not too much.. Looking forward to Thursday when I move to full liquids!

Yay! You did it! I loved my Lap Band. It was my invisible friend :)

It will be exciting to see your extra weight falling off. Most people say to stay off the scales while you heal -- but I couldn't help myself. Just remember your body is going thru a huge adjustment and there may be swelling (which will look like you've GAINED weight)...so if you peek at the scale or just happen to find yourself stepping on it, dont put much stock in what it says.

Plus my home scale always weighs me about 3 pounds less than the doctors!

When you go in for your follow up visits, you might try to get an early morning visit when you weigh less. I did that and it helped my morale :)

Sounds like you're doing fine.

Be sure to get some walking in, if even for just 5 minutes. You need to keep up your stamina; it is hard to get back, once lost.

My surgeon wrote orders for me to walk 5 times a day! With less daylight now, you'd have to plan it out--maybe every 90 minutes. You end up having walked almost an hour a day that way. It will help keep everything moving; helps with gas and also lessens Constipation.< /p>

So walk even if you don't want to. You won't regret it.

Congratulations!!

Hi there and congratulations -- hope you are getting lots of good R&R. It's Saturday morning and my family just left so I have the house to myself. It's day four post-op and I'm feeling really good, walking all I can and resting as needed. Think I will go rustle up a Popsicle and climb back under the covers. We did it -- journeys begun!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
