Hey all!! Hope everyone is doing great!!!

I had surgery last Friday 4/20 in Miami fl, with Dr. Sosa. My overall experience was good and besides the first two days I feel ok. Quick rewind: my prep op diet was only 2 days which scared me so I did 4 days total. I didn't keep count of what I lost before the surgery but my original weight was 260 and today 4/28 am down to 242!!! I've been on a liquid diet ever since, yesterday I was able to introduce milk (soy) and thicker Soups watered down with Water and strained.

It's been very hard for me to maintain this diet because I work in a hotel/restaurant and am a vegetarian. I see food 12hours a day and top of that No Jello, no chix broth, just Water, watered down juices, and today my favorite, a Soy Protein shake. My doc basically has me on the same diet as his Lap-Band patients. Clear liquids for 1week, liquids, 4oz Soups for week 2 and week 3 & 4 I hear it's Beans, Protein shakes, and purée veggies.

sleeping is difficult Bc I seep on my side or my stomach. During the night I get sharp pains and I can barley sleep 3 hours straight. I haven't taken any pain medication, my insulin was discontinued but am still on Metformim 2x a day. He also gave me Anti-acid meds for 30days.

I am seeing a Bariatric nutrionist and once my stitches and drain "hole" is closed I will start the gym.

My goal is 140pounds so I have to work hard and loose as much as I can now while I have restriction.

I wanted to thank everyone for their updates and words of encouragement. I feel this site really prepared for the upcoming weeks.

Good luck to everyone and keep on posting.

Lucyg- my doctor said I should be drinking 24oz of Water, 2x a day 4oz of Soup, 2x a day Protein shake, and 2x 4oz coffee or tea. I take my bottle of Water everywhere I go, just in case I get "hungry". Am not exactly sure if am hungry or am mentally hungry. Either way try sipping on water or make some tea for the evenings.

Let me know how it goes. :) :)

I had plication surgery april 17...with Dr Ortiz.... very happy so far...some cramping, bloating etc, but i have lost 23 pounds so far incl pre-op. today was my first day of really being hungry...but i am increasing some liquids..hopefully that will work! I have one more week to reach my 21 days of liquids (full). then I can go to soft foods, like tuna etc...I know I can do it though it is getting a little harder.

My wife and I are a month out. She is down 18 lbs and I'm down 37 from our pre op weight. We are eating normal foods and everything has been great. The only thing that's hard is getting use to eating so little and feeling so full. The weight loss is slow it seems but we need to learn how to quit checking the scale daily.

What was your wife's starting weight?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
