  1. Alex Brecher started following Kika79
  2. Jackiemac- I would suggest going back to basics. Eat what i think we all ate the first couple of weeks. Protein shakes an 4oz meals. Can you walk at all? Maybe yoga? Go online and search for exceecise for non-mobile people. I'm sure you will find something. Hope all goes well. Keep us posted
  3. Sleeve. Docs don't cut your stomach with plication.
  4. Lois-the procedure itself takes about 45mins. She will probably stay in the hospital for observation for 2 days on a liquid diet. The first few days are a bit rough but she should be up in no time. I had surgery on a Thursday and I was back in the office on a Tuesday. Her diet must completely change, she will need to learn how to eat slower and smaller portions. My biggest challenge was my mind. "IT" was also hungry!! I waited a month before starting cardio. Exercise will be her new Best Friend. Plication IS NOT like the sleeve or bypass she will need work to loose weight, which in my opinion is harder but it will teach you how to actually eat healthier. I started with 267 pounds and as of today I've lost 80pounds. My goal is 167. Some weeks you will 3-4pounds while other weeks you will remain the same or gain 1-2 pounds. Eating less processed foods, more greens & fruit with a some cardio is what's worked for me. This site will be great for your daughter, have her go on YouTube as well. It helped me alot. There's also a few ladies on here like (tobethin30 & Becky) that have had great success. Good luck to the both of you!! Keep us posted.

  6. Wondering in GA- how are you feeling? I personally didn't experience passing blood but I heard of another male who did. It sounds like it can be possible but keep harassing the doc. Keep us posted. Kika
  7. Carlak- Biotin is another name for Vitamin H. It helps strengthen your hair and nails. Some foods like cauliflower, bananas, carrots, egg yolk and sardines have biotin. My doc recommended I have two supplements daily. I also take 2 shakes a day. My hair thin-out just a bit. Hope this helps.
  8. Bos123- Plication, in April of this year. My start weight was 260 and today I am at 193. I feel great and most importantly my health is getting better. I have slips ups with junk food here and there but I make sure I go to the gym at least 4 days a week. My goal weight is 160 and then tummy tuck time!! LOL Good luck and be patient. Plication is slow but it is effective.
  9. Kevin W. What type of surgery did you get? sleeve or the plication? 165 is amazing!! Keep it up.
  10. Thanks Jelson!! I also started spinning and a total body work out. To date I am down 65pounds. How are you?
  11. What are you eating? You might need to increase your cardio? Change up the routine. Whenever I have a stall I go back to basics.4oz of food for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. 2 Protein shakes and Water through out the day. Hope this helps.
  12. Than you!!! You have also made amazing strides!! Its funny but my doc keeps reminding me that our surgery will only help with 60pounds and a few weeks ago I told him about you. Last time i read I believe you reached 80 pounds. :) Have you kept loosing? Ive noticed a slight decrease on the amount I loose weekly but I'm still very happy loosing 2 pounds a week. Keep us posted ms. Skinny!!
  13. I finally reached 199 pounds!!! I haven't been in the hundreds for over 15 years. My total weight loss since April has been 61 pounds. It's taken alot of cardio and hard work to loss this weight but im enjoying every minute of it My new goal is 160, which I hope I reach by Jan 2013. Good luck All!!! Kika
  14. Ana-Do you work or have any affiliation with Dr.Ortiz? Am not here to bash any doctor but Cee is correct, THIS site is suppose to be an open fourum. We should feel comfortable to post anything we experience or may think without getting attacked. I don't think anyone has ever claimed to be a doctor or a specialist in plication but we are experiencing it. Most of the patients do indeed have other factors we are not aware of. With that being said: we shouldn't disregard any complaints or issues doctors or clicnics in any state or country may have.

  20. With the plication your stomach is folded in twice, not stapled or cut. Our stomachs are intact they are just shaped like a half a moon or banana for a few of us. With the restriction you can only eat a certain amount of food before you get full or feel sick from over-eating. My personal issue was or still is I eat without hunger. It's all in my mind. I eat bc am used to eating at a certain time or craze all day, Even with Mental Hunger I've lost 50 pounds by eating healthier and lots of cardio.
