Hope your doing ok.

Drop removed this morning. Surgeon is happy with fluids intake. Biggest issue at the moment is the drain on my left side. Sadly don't think it will be out until tomorrow.

Hospital staff are amazing.

How are you doing?

Soft foods! Today I officially start soft foods (although I have tried a little already the last couple of days truth be told). This morning I had lox and low fat cream cheese on 1/2 slice of whole wheat toast. I'm savoring and chewing each small bite. Yum!

Hope everyone is doing well! I think my two week stall is over ( time will tell) because I finally lost the 2 lbs I had GAINED. So far I'm the turtle in this race - only 8 lbs lost since morning of my surgery but I figure that they are now gone forever, so still a win for me!

I think the emotianal stuff hit me last night. Im so overwhelmed, and tired, and just....want to sit here and stare at a blank white wall.

Its just me and my 15 year old here, and I swear that kid is trying to take advantage of everything right now....I swear its worse than having a toddler. I truly dont have the physical or mental energy to do what I need to do with him. Now Im completely questioning myself... I need to be able to deal with his crap. Ugh. I just cried last night....I just need time to heal physically- it hasnt been all that long.

It would probably help if I could get all my Protein in....that is my goal today. Even if the whole rest of the world falls apart. :(

I know how manipulative 15 yr old boys can be. You may need to explain to him that for now he needs to man up and be supportive and then he can start being a butt again once you've recovered sufficiently.

You'd be surprised how blunt honesty works with teenagers.

Last drain is coming out today. Surgeon is keeping me another night just to ensure I am 100% before I head home. Walking without a blood bag will be the best thing every.

Sorry I haven't updated. I went in yesterday morning at 5:30AM by 7:30AM I was being rolled back to OR. My surgery took a bit longer than usual but did great. Got out of surgery at about 11:15AM was back in my room by 1:10PM. I have had extreme nausea from the gas. Did a lot of burping...spit up a little blood from my pouch which is normal. Couldn't wait to get out of the bed. Laying down with all that air in me was the worst. Haven't needed pain meds except to help me to sleep. Was up walking by 5:00pm walked to the end of the hall and back. Did that two more times during the night. By the third walk I was able to walk on my own. Well i had the iv pole to hold on to. Only ice chips to keep mouth moist... Two every 15 min only. Had severe dry mouth due to pain meds. Using the spirometer is hard because of the gas. TODAY has been better i was served crystal light coffee Jello and Water for Breakfast. I didn't do the coffee at all ate all of the Jello drank 4 oz of crystal light. Took me till lunch time. lunch i had cream of chicken Soup carnation instant Breakfast coffee crystal light. I had one ounce of cream of chicken and one ounce of carnation breakfast. Drank crystal light till dinner. dinner i have cream of mushroom crystal light pudding coffee and carnation instant breakfast. I had two ounces of cream of mushroom and one ounce of crystal light maybe half an ounce of pudding. I get to go home in the morning. Still bloated from the air. Haven't started passing gas yet. Except for burping. They took my catheter out this morning. Peeing was a bit hard to do at first. They took my pain pump this morning, IV this evening. I can have pain meds by request and did have a headache earlier and had to have some. So yucky. Thanks for all the informative posts that got me this far.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
