Hi. I am new to this site but am so so so glad to find it. I am one week out from surgery 12/17 and down 11 lbs from surgery and 17 total. I'm feeling better, very little pain left, but am starting to get emotional and bored. My family is hovering and also eating holiday food, both of which are annoying. I don't want to irritable in Christmas but I am and can't help it.

I know exactly how you feel. I just look at the long run. All my family was miserable after eating and I was just fine with my pureed deviled egg and pureed squash. I kept telling myself "this time next year im going to be opening gifts with the cutest clothes ever" and a year flies by. I know it doesn't seem like it but I'm two weeks out and it's already crazy to think. Plus the 28 lbs I've lost have been ton of motivation! We got this!!! Best of luck!

Hi I'm new here. 6 days post op. So happy to find this forum. Not a lot of pain. Uncomfortable sleeping as I am a side sleeper. I'm really emotional too!! Hubby is driving me crazy asking what's wrong! ! I DON'T KNOW! Is this common?

I am really emotional too. Glad to know I'm not the only one. I found myself holding back tears all morning and not sure why. I feel bad because I don't want my family to think they are upsetting me. So this evening instead of watching them all eat Christmas dinner I came back to my house to try to get back to my routine. Maybe that will make me feel more like me again. I'm only 8 days post op but ready to get back to normal as possible.

I'm feeling that way too, my surgery was 12-20. Today was hard but not unmanageable. I had a little bit of sweet potatoes and some smashed up green Beans. My family was all so supportive and that makes a HUGE difference. I just keep trying to remember that there is light at the end of the tunnel and soon enough I will be able to eat real food again, just lots less.

No pain here either, just discomfort and I get tired very easily. Luckily I have another week and a half off work, I'm a teacher:) going tomorrow to buy myself a good scale!

Apparently according to some others being moody is normal ! What I was told was that as our bodies lose weight rapidly it releases hormones! I was told that it's like having a girl going through puberty!

Hi I was 12/16 and am curious for those of you around that date what you're eating. I am having Soups and just added in some eggs and cottage cheese. I probably pushed it a little today with 1/2 of a meatball and a piece of ham but those things went down easier than some cream soups I have had. Thoughts and how does this compare to what you all are eating and your doctor's suggested plan?

Thanks!

Hi, my surgery was 12/19. I'm on a "blended diet," which is puréed foods and Protein Drinks, yogurt, broth/strained Soup and cottage cheese. That's for the first four weeks, then on to "soft foods" stage. Being that surg was only 7 days ago, I really haven't been "eating" much, mostly a couple 2oz portions of Protein Drink per day, along with my doc's recommended 32 oz of Water, which takes me an entire day to get down. They made us promise not to even try solid foods for the first month! I might try blended lentil soup today though....oooh! Lol

Hello. I had RYGB on the 17th. My surgeon requires we are on a liquid diet for three weeks post op. He has us drinking Protein Shakes and TONS of zero calorie waters and hydrating fluids. So, I am not officially eating food that is. I have had tiny bites of a few things. Soft laughing cow cheese, tid bits of ham and a tiny bit of Beans. That is it. I believe the goal is to let this new tender pouch and bypass heal and not to compromise it by filling it up and stretching the pouch out by eating food. I would LOVE to eat meat often. I am craving it (head hunger only). I am not and have not been tummy hungry. On January 9th, at my post op, I expect to be released to soft foods. I have seen the approved list from another patient and it has the following on the list: cottage cheese, applesauce, deli turkey, puddings, Jello, eggs, salad/bay shrimp and more. Of course any of the sweet like treats, they will be no sugar added and/or sugar free.

Approved today!!! I should be happy I've been approved by my insurance company but family is starting to discourage me. I had a sleeve to bypass last minute change due to Barrett's which caused me enough anxiety. I have researched the new procedure but am not as comfortable as I was originally...I don't need to hear this continual s#*+ about reduction of life expectancy and all the statistical negatives a few days before surgery!!!! Depression creeping in..... ;(

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
