December Surgeries!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

Merry Christmas Eve!! So my very sweet neighbors brought a bucket full of homemade goodies. When I came back inside I opened it and just laughed. Last Christmas me and that bucket would have been sitting on the couch! But I closed it back up and will give it away! Weighed myself today and I and 283.3. That's about 22lbs since 12/2 and almost 10 lbs since surgery on 12/17. Today marks 1 week post op. I can get down with 10 lbs a week! Lol. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. food will be tempting but WE CAN DO THIS!!!

I know what you mean! I got this tub of candy covered popcorn from my boss! I just threw it under the tree. Gonna let the kids much on it tomorrow!

We did this thing at work where we jingled people and all had a stocking! My co workers were wonderful I received no candy but all kinds of goodies! I have lost 22 lbs total from two weeks preop til now! I'm actually a little disappointed that I am not losing now at all!

Hi Kbee. I am a RYGB (surgery was last week on Dec 17th). I am on a three week liquid diet...protien drinks and hydrating fluids. So, on Christmas, my family is doing brunch (Crepes, fruit, bacon and sausage). I will be brining my protien shakes with me and that is that. I will sip, sip, sip away....as they eat all that NUMMY food. No choice, but I must stay on track and heal, heal, heal. Happy Holidays-Merry Christmas!

You're an inspiration re the shakes and you are right we just have to respect the healing process - there is no choice. Sipping on another shake as we speak - vanilla with an expresso coffee shot! Merry Christmas everyone and just IMAGINE how we are

all going to look next year!!! Eye on the prize as they say....

Is anyone left on this side or has everyone on this thread made it over to the losers bench? I recently found out I'm having surgery on Monday 12/30 just wondering if any other Dec buds are still waiting.

Hi, I am new. I will be having RNY surgery in two days. Starting to get nervous. This looks to be a great site. Glad I found it.

Ok. So I had my surgery on 12/20. I just got released to come home today. Hospital stay was way longer than expected, but I have an over cautious surgeon. I had my gallbladder removed. And the surgery took over two hours longer than expected. Surgeon said it was the biggest fall bladder he had ever seen. That was an awkward thing to learn. My surgeon said he was shocked that it hasn't caused me problems. Wierd! The most awful pain was the second day. Another trippy part for me was having this tube removed from me this morning that was inside my body. When she pulled it out, it felt like a snake was in my body. Such a yucky feeling. I still have a tube that stays in me for six weeks. I hope it doesn't feel that way when they remove that one.

I had an accordion drain in for about 6 weeks and it felt a little the same coming out. Towards the end of having it in I had more pain from the site healing around it than the drain itself. As nervous as I was once they clipped the stitches holding it I didn't feel any pain after... Just relief! ;) best of luck on your recovery.

Hi. I am new to this site but am so so so glad to find it. I am one week out from surgery 12/17 and down 11 lbs from surgery and 17 total. I'm feeling better, very little pain left, but am starting to get emotional and bored. My family is hovering and also eating holiday food, both of which are annoying. I don't want to irritable in Christmas but I am and can't help it.

Good Luck everyone over the nxt week-we are moving on to the losing side right as 2013 comes to a close/bring on the new year!

I told my husband this reminds me of going in to deliver a baby. I'm excited about the outcome but not really looking forward to the labor (procedure).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
