Any October surgeries out there...

Rafa what happened to your band surgery? Didnt work? The surgeons I go to wont even do the band anymore. Guess its been bad.

I got the band in 08, reached goal by 2010 of 140lbs, maintained for about 7 months and had a really bad stomach bug. All the vomiting made my band slip. The doctor took all the Fluid out of my band, waited a few weeks and it "unslipped"... Except every time I got close to my "sweet spot" (perfect fill amount), it would slip again. After many emergency visits I realized the band wasn't going to work for me. Now I've gained 90 out of the 130lbs I'd lost and talked myself into getting a revision. I got the process started in June and now I just can't wait to get it done! I don't encourage anyone to get the band. Out of 3 people I know who got it (including myself), 1 has had it removed due to complications and I'm in the process of getting it removed too. The 3rd person never reached goal (only halfway) and she got it a year before I did.

*sorry my post is so long, I just figured I'd give you the whole shppeal since you asked lol

Lol!! Don't be sorry! I love reading about this stuff! Wish I had time to read it all day! Thanks for sharing. What a mess!! Sorry u had to go thru all that. Are r u doing the roux en y? At least u can still do something different to take the weight off and keep it off!! I have friends that tried to talk me into the sleeve but my gut said to stick with my original decision of the RNY!!

Yup, definitely RNY, there's a significant number of sleeves being revised to bypass too, so what's the point, right? I just wish I'd gone with the bypass to begin with.

Oh really?? I didn't know that! I honestly didn't research as much as I should have. But the sleeve seemed too new to me. Don't dwell on your first decision. You didn't know what would happen. Now mover forward :) no worries!!! It will get better!!

LUCKY DUCKY :) Good Luck!!!!!

Thanks bigjimskiki, just glad I only have 10 days of a liquid diet but actually it is more like a month, 10 before and 14 after. I'm surviving, but a big juicy hamburger right now would be great. Guess I'll settle for chicken broth Protein mix :(.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
