Terrified of hair loss

I haven't seen a lot of discussion about hair loss with this surgery, but it s one of the side affects I am most afraid of. I have a lot of gray hair so go in for color every six weeks - will I be able to continue that? I am in a position where I have to look and dress professional and just thinking about gray thinning hair is giving me nightmares!

where did you get the nioxin shampoo

where did you get the nioxin shampoo from. Im 4 mo post-op my hair is falling out a lot.

I bought mine from eBay as it was cheaper than all the hair shops here in Australia

As a person who considered not having the surgery because of this one side effect... My hair has thinned beyond my comfort zone lol but it's getting better it stopped for a long time (falling) but recently due to stress has state again. BUT it did stop and was getting better.

I recommend good shampoo weightless conditioners all your protein and biotin.

Best of luck!

Mine is steadily falling out. I get more than my protein goal daily, religious about my vitamins, use biotin..it's just doing its own thing. I'm not quiet 4 months and its getting noticeably thin.

Losing hair is not my biggest concern. I've been thru it postpartum. Not different now. It slowly grows back as soon as 8 months.

Though, I can see how aggravating for others hair loss might become. My RNY buddy has beautiful long red hair that she religiously takes care of. I know it would sadden her very much if she would deal with post-op hair loss.

I was told by my doctors office that you will experience hair loss due to lack of protein and vitamins. Your hair will grow back but not to use harsh chemicals that are found in hair dyes. Also biotein is good for your hair.

I bought Sally's beauty supplies nioxin version...she said it was the same thing with their name on it...so if you have a sally's you could start there....

Is anyone seeing acne and unwanted hair growth as a result of using Biotin?

Acne yes. Not sure it's biotin tho I kinda just related it to the hormones.

Yes..I broke out like a teenager, but I too thought it was from the surgery....can biotin cause hair growth and acne??

Maybe I'm wierd, but I don't mind if mine thins! I have always wanted to shave my head and that would give me a reason!!!

Good luck ladies!

I'm scared of hair loss too...if stress is a factor I'm more than screwed. My mother is dying of cancer (hospice starts this week), I'm moving, and changing jobs. And that's just in the next month.

Sorry to hear about your mother Lisa. I don't think anyone can say for sure that stress plays a role. Just remember to care for your self with all the stress get your protein in and you should be ok.
