Ugh I just had my first bad experience with food since surgery. I was eating leftovers from last night so I don't think it was the kind of food. It felt more like it got stuck. What an awful feeling!! I'm scared to eat anything now and I need to because I haven't eaten much today <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

I tired KFC chicken last night it was to greasy and got stuck I final got it up but I've felt horrible since and I have a bad headache and nothing had been good all day.

I hope the feeling goes away and to get to eat some more.

I am five weeks out today. Surgery was June 24th. I got clearance today to move on to soft foods. I had cheated and eaten some regular food. But I just recently got real sick from eating grits. The feeling is not good. Since that day any foods I eat pureed or liquid seems to just sit around the base of my throat and just turn for about hour. very uncomfortable. Is any one out there getting this type of reaction? What do you do? lately I am hardly eating anything for fear getting sick and throwing up.

So, anyone know when surgeons decide we've put up with this "stuck food state" long enough to decide we have a stricture? I'm kinda tired of puking. Ya I know, it's only been 6 weeks.

Be persistent. I knew something was wrong and kept on my doctor and I was right.

I do feel very whiney, and really I'm normally a trooper! I am sorry to hear about your hospital stay - are they thinking that will be all fixed now or a recurring problem?

Hoping that it will stay opened. ... but there's always the chance of reoccurance later down the line. Good luck with everything. .. be persistent!

Shoot, my baby is being fussy again, looks like I got to make another call to the doc office, I may have to go back for more treatment like I did last week, if I'm not able to hold anything down come morning.

I'm having a hard time lately with eating. I'm 4 weeks out and I don't think anything tastes good anymore. I'm even having a hard time finding a liquid I can handle all day. I thought Protein Shakes would help on days like that but I can't even choke those down anymore :-(

I went through this, and still some things taste nasty. Just keep trying different things. I have come across a few Protein Drinks I can handle again, but it took a few weeks.

I went thru this too. It does get better. Ice cold Water and watered down Crystal Light were my savior.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
