Weeelllll' date=' you seasoned vets!!! You post op peeps... have you any suggestions for those of us who are still waiting on our days? Things we should bring to the hospital, any suggestions at all?!! LOL!! I'm so excited for you all! My surgery was approved today so I can hardly contain myself! I think I'll use my excitement to fuel a good workout.

And about those suggestions....:)[/quote']

I just bought toothbrush, toothpaste, underwear and a pair of shorts cuz you will be hot. They wouldn't let me get completely dressed but after the ugi and the taken out cathedar i was able to put on shorts and underwear. Kept the gown on, on top because they put all those heart monitor stuff on your chest so it's just easier. I kept it limited but i did bring my favorite blanket and pillow! You will do fine, i can't believe the minimal pain i feel. Good luck and can't wait for you to sit on the losers bench with us!

I'm finally home. I spent 3 days in the hospital due to pain, nausea and couldn't drink all my liquids.

I don't have pain anymore but I sure do recommend a pillow for the ride home, every time we hit a bump it was an ouch!

It's difficult to drink all my liquids, I can only have sf Jello, crystal light, broth and Protein drinks. Tomorrow will go up to full liquids. I just have to make sure I drink enough liquids so I won't dehydrate since my blood level is low.

I also came home with a lot of phlegm, mucous and cough, when I cough it hurts so I'm making sure I use my spirometer given at the hospital.

All in all in went well, I'm feeling much better today, just of course hungry. I need to start walking, walking and walking.

Congrats to all who have crossed over to the losers bench side :)

I hope you were able to find out. Good luck and hoping for a speedy and uneventful recovery for you!

My honey was able to stay with me, but I guess it depends on your hospital. I'll tell you he was wonderful support and although I had a wonderful hospital. My hubby was able to help me ASAP when I needed it. Lots of peeing that's for sure. Walk as much as possible. When drinking sip really....really slowly and use a spoon or those one cupies where the MEDS are given.

I can't seem to get to sleep' date=' prob this dumb cathader (so uncomfortable), i have zero pain. I'm just short of breath which is normal for just having surgery, but my oxygen is at 100%. I walked earlier and again the only discomfort i had was from the cathader.[/quote']

Happy to hear your feeling well. I pray I can join you soon.

I thought you weren't suppose to get hungry any longer, why do some of you come home still feeling hungery?

I read some people lose their appetite and some don't. I'm praying I do :). That would make things much easier

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
