March 2013 Post Op "A New Life 2013"

Recommended Posts

I have my post op follow up with the surgeon tomorrow. I had initially taken 3 weeks off of work. However, I hope he will approve one more otherwise I am only off one more week. Reason being I can not get any decent amount of sleep. I am a side sleeper and do to discomfort and pain, I can not sleep well. Since surgery I noticed that I get pain in my hips and thighs while lying on my back in bed. This was not an issue before surgery. I can sleep 2 hours at a time tops. Also I have had a horrible sore throat since surgery and it hurts so much to swallow and still need some assistance to shower. I can't wait to get back to normal.

I took 6 weeks, I wish I could have gotten 6 months. Lol. I'm going to enjoy every minute I'm not in pain!

I'm sure your doc will work with u it's major surgery talk with him/her and get a few more weeks.

Just checking in everyone. I'm six days post op and its been ups and downs. Pain has been very manageable. Just a lot of weak spells and some nausea. Just trying to get fluids in and walk and rest. I just want to throw out docs orders and sleep for days. I know the less I take in the worse I feel. I'll get there. I just need more time to heal right? I k ow it'll get better.

My prayers are with tomorrow's surgery peeps. Love you guys. I need your prayers and positive thoughts. Still feeling really overwhelmed.

Kathy, I've never heard of leaving w the tube down ur nose. I got mine out after 24 hrs. That has got to b do annoying. I hope ur doing ok w it.

My doc approved me for an initial 8 week leave because I have MS, which causes some underlying problems. So glad I have 8 weeks. I feel you about the sleeping! I'm still taking low dose codeine at night. sleeping in 2 hour naps is exhausting. I'm sure your doc will approve whatever you need-everyone is different. Hope you feel better soon!

Ok guys....I haven't been having any major issues getting Water and Protein in so obviously I'm starting to feel like a weirdo or that something is wrong with me. I'm about 12 days post op and feel pretty good. No hunger whatsoever either. I keep reading on the threads how everyone's struggling to get water and protein and feeling weak. I know it seems insane to worry about doing too well, but I'm starting to think the surgeon tricked me :)

I'm so glad to know I'm not insane or anything. I had one pukey incident, but I think I ate too soon after taking meds or something. Glad you're doing well also. How's your weight loss going? My surgery was on 3/12/13 and I'm down 8 pounds from day of surgery. Seems like it should be more, but I'm just impatient.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
