Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi all you beautiful Violets -

I read a range of reactions to us being one month post op. It is frustrating that the pounds aren't dropping off as quickly as being on liquids or mushies, for those of us who are eating. However, real food is real life. I am committed to learning to eat in a new way, really trying to understand the difference between head hunger and body hunger.

Speaking of "head" i am heading to the gym. Have a wonderful day.

Hugs,

Michelle

Remember - TWO YEARS - 104 weeks - We'll all get there!

Michelle, how right you are...FOOD IS REAL LIFE...not Water and not blended food...but food...thanks for putting that is perspective...I think we all could learn from that statement...sure water will get weight off...but your gonna have to eat SOMETIME...and it might as well be the right things and the right quantities..

I can not eat and eat and eat.....I do stop myself...but yesterday I grazed ALL DAY....how dumb...it was because of this pain and I was taking it easy to see if it would go away...but today I got up and rode my bike and walked 2 miles...and I am feeling MUCH better about food today...having my oatmeal and banana now...

Haydee....how many sausages would you have had pre-band??? I bet more that two.....be proud that you only had two...we have to start somewhere...there is a lot of head issues to go along with the eating less and I sure think we are all lucky to have found this place and each othere..it sure is nice to know I am not alone...Deanna

You're right Deanna. Pre-band I would have had that plus a few donuts and a big cup of coffee with sugar and full fat milk. I guess sometimes I feel like if I don't stick to the regimen that I've set for myself then I feel like I am failing or falling back into my old habits. Thanks for reminding me. Like GonnaBfree said, I have to make the right decisions...

Well the good thing about having that for Breakfast is that now I still feel stuffed and it's way past lunchtime. Hopefully I stay full like this until about 3 and then I will have just a light snack. It will balance me out if I skip lunch today...

There you go Haydee...you go girl...now I think what you said it so true...it makes you feel like a failure if you dont stick to the regimen that you put upon yourself.....but you are not a failure...and that in itself is something to celebrate...YOU ARE GREAT!!! You stopped at two and are still stuffed...CONGRATS!!! I know what you are saying about feeling a failure...but this is ONE MOMENT AT A TIME......we need to remember that ....if we slip a little...the next minute is a new minute...Good Job!!....we are all beautiful and getting skinnier by the day!!!! Hi girlz - In this book that I'm reading about how to break old habits and reach for new goals, it says that you have to KNOW GOING IN that you are going to falter!! This isn't the first time, nor will it be the last, that you graze all day, or eat kolaches, or have two pieces of cake! What needs to be done is to have a plan for what you will do WHEN you falter. Will you slide into an oblivious binge or will you get a grip and get back on the horse the next day? My calories have been slipping away from me the last few days (thank you, peanut butter). So starting today I'm making better low-fat, high Protein choices until I see that $*#%&! scale move. No chocolate, no sneaking treats, and lots of Water.

What is your plan the next time you have a setback?

OH OH OH!! And I had an NSV today at lunch! Was trying on some new clothes (everything is BIG in my closet!!!) and instinctively went for the 16W's, which is the next size down for me. They were all too big! Guess what?? 14W's are just right!! That's a drop of 2 sizes so far!! Almost into the regular womens sizes!...maybe another 10#. Now THAT is gonna be one helluva day.

HELLO Fellow Violets!!!!!!! I had a hard time getting in today so now it is already afternoon!

I was VERY happy to see the weight on my siggy this a.m. now I want those 230's!!!!!

I have had

1 pc cajun string cheese

1 fairly large pc of meatloaf

1 cookie ( :( )

44 oz's of water.....

My sister and her best friend just started a colon cleansing program

Colon Cleansing, Constipation, IBS, Colonix, Cleanse, Detox – Online Resource and I am about ready to try it myself, I wonder if it would be ok for us! I'm guess it would be since we have all our innards.

I will warn you the pics on the website are DISGUSTING so if you thought my surgery pictures were gross..... BE WARNED.....

I will also say that my sis (who is only on day two) is already a believer.. she's had bathroom problems her ENTIRE LIFE... she used to run from my grandma if she had a bar of soap in her hand! LOL sad but true.

Feed back anyone????

NSV: I am now able to wear 5 pairs of my old jeans and two of my old "good" bra's that I had gotten too wide for. My boss, today said he could tell I was losing weight.... (HE DOES NOT KNOW I HAD SURGERY) but he does know that I'm on a diet and paid to see a nutritionist.

Also... this is pretty amazing because he is a near retirment normally unobservant MAN!

rediscovering what's in the back of your closet is part of all the fun of bandland.

WHAT'S THE OLDEST THING YOU HAVE IN YOUR CLOSET AND HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN WAITING FOR YOU????

I hate to admit this, but I think I have clothes from OMG 20 years ago. They are summer clothes and I've always wanted to fit back into them (I weighed 150# then). But now that I think about it, I'm too old for that style. BUT, maybe I can pass for 21 again (LOL - I'm 41)(but young looks run in my family!)

I have a pair of size 8 jeans still with the tags.... I bought them when I was loosing the last time and was able to get on 10's of the same jean..

they are stretchy and they were on sale for 4.99 so I bought several pairs! The clothes I really want to get back into are my size 12 Levis.. I look at them now and think....... damn was I really that little????

The jeans I can get into now are stretchy 16's I'm hoping to get into my old levis around 209 lbs... (I think I was around that weight when I grew out of them) I really am so happy to see the inches going down with only being down 27 lbs!

My shirt goal is to feel OK in a tank top, but my arms are already floppy and will be just horrific by the time I get to goal....

I can feel my upper belly getting smaller and I can see it in my face.. I really really really want to be in the 230's by the time my June pic comes around

You guys want to know a great website for some awesome Protein?

Just to give you a little history about this, I am a former patient of a clinic we have here in Michigan called "Medical Weight Loss".

Their program is largely based on high protein/low carb and you're supposed to have 3 of these 'nutrient supplements' per day.

Well it can be a little costly, but if you think of it costing you less than $5 a day, but ADDING a ton of variety and tasty protein, then it's worth it. I'm using my leftovers from when I was on the plan and am enjoying Soups, shakes, puddings, Fruit Drinks, Hot Drinks, and my favorite sloppy joes.

I found this website for purchasing them and use it for the nutritional value content. Most of the servings pack 12g of protein, but are low on carbs and calories. I'm still working my way up to solids, but having this variety has made things a little easier.

check em out if you want - Protein liquid diet Shakes | Weight Loss Shakes | Protein Diet Drinks

PS: I get nothing for this, but just want to pass along a great way to increase your protein. The fruit drinks are like koolaids. The soups make great soups or gravies (use less water) and the puddings serve as shakes or smoothies depending on the water/ice content.

WHAT'S THE OLDEST THING YOU HAVE IN YOUR CLOSET AND HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN WAITING FOR YOU????

I am a closet-cleaner-outer-addict... so if something is not worn in the last year, or if it doesn't fit anymore, then it's donated. This is done twice a year.

So while our closets are very tidy, all of my clothes are sized 28 / 30 :((this is the size I have been for over a year) and they are getting way too big... I didn't keep any of my smaller-sized clothes!!

:omg:

I can wear some shirts that have been put away for awhile...I really dont want to buy clothes til I am down 50 pounds...do you guys think that is realistic? 50 pounds down til new clothes...or am I gonna be swimming in mine by then??? Terri: OMG soooo jealous. My tops are getting way too big to wear but my bottoms are still fitting. Not tight like they used to but I still can't get into my size 24's.

Regarding your question, "What is your plan the next time you have a setback?" - My plan is to not beat myself up about it. I will pick up where I left off before my "detour" into food hell. The only reason I didn't go on a binge after I ate those two unmentionable things this morning was because I was able to get some support throught this site. In the past if I were following an eating plan all it took was one little mess up to send me spiraling into the biggest binge. Then of course I would give up the whole plan because of that one little mess up. Not anymore. Just like you said Terri, I have to go into this knowing that I will fail. Thanks...

Hmmm, the oldest thing waiting for me in my closet... About 10 years ago my mother bought me this summer dress in a size 14. I still have it. It still has the tags on it. It's a nice olive green color, short sleeve, buttons down the whole front. Like a shirt dress. Falls to mid-calf. Leather belt around the waist. Can't wait to be in that...

arealady- we're about the same on weight to lose, and I've lost less than you.. and I've only noticed a SLIGHT difference in my clothes. I have not gone down a size yet. But, me and family were talking about it, and wonder if I've just been wearing clothes that were too small, so I have an extra size to lose to go down one more.

Lucky for me, I procrastinate. I had all my 'skinnier' clothes packed in a bag ready for goodwill, but never had time to take it down there. I went through it the other night and pulled out clothes I'd like to wear again.. the goodwill bag is now 1/3 what it was!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
