Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Laura

My mom is a member of Unity, ......

Wow! I'm a member of Unity too! That's very unusual to find ...it's a very small church! But I sure do love it!

Laura - I have my wedding ceremony and vows text on my computer and many said at the ceremony that it was the nicest they'd ever heard. It was pretty 'generic' and nothing about "obeying" your partner!! LOL There also was a part where we lit a unity candle. I'll be happy to send you the text if you're interested.

TO FILL OR NOT TO FILL? I'm not feeling much restriction again :youcandothis: I have a couple of long weekends planned in the next month with friends who don't know about my surgery. Should I get a fill or not? I want to be aggressive this 1st 6 months and can get one as early as May 25. Leave for my first trip May 31. Then another June 14. I would really like to have a fill, I think. When I posted on the "fills" forum I got one response that said not to do it because I'd be away from my doc. I guess I should call the surgeon and ask them what they think. I hate to be a pest, but I DID pay dearly for their services!

Terri...you Beauty!!

How did you get my pis?? I thought I deleted them B4 anyone got a look!! Thank YOu...xx

I LOVED our wedding day & all the planning & work that went into it & It was a fairytale..I had Horses & Carriage and fireworks and everything in a castle. I don't have the photographers pics on my computer but if I can I'll transfer so you guys can see us in the picture too!!

Laura, the purple was just lighting. We had a friend do the lighting & it was really amazing, it went from purple to blue & he did dry ice for us too, so it was enchanted looking..those photos were taken before he let loose with the dry ice.

I'd love to send you the DVD of the day...But the fomat wouldn't work for you there!! I'll see if I can get it re-regionalised (I made that word up) would you like it if I could send it to you? It would be good for ideas..it documents the day from the moment we started getting ready at home until the dancing into the early hours!!

The memories make me so happy!!

ibchelle: Wow, 40 lbs in a month -- that's a LOT! Congratulations!! I'd say it's fast! And I wouldn't worry about your body slowing down a bit... it needs time to catch up and reevaluate what's going on... + I think that the "ideal" weight loss w/the band is 1-2 lbs/week in the long run, so don't freak out just yet!

Lunasa: BEAUTIFUL wedding photos! Sounds like an Irish wedding is not to be missed!

Laura: Lunasa's right, you may want/need *some* on-the-ground help w/the actual manual labor involved, if not someone who's experienced w/weddings to bounce ideas off of. I'm sure there are gobs of wedding web sites... there was no Internet when I was married back in the stone age (ok, the '80s)... all we had were those 100lb bridal magazines to flip through for help... amazing it got done at all! lol!

Tracy: Great pic! I can see the loss in your face, too! "Glug, glug, glug"!

Well, the vet came and Mo was constipated w/old poop that had dried out & was too hard to push out w/all the pain from the bladder stuff... a vicious cycle... gotta love a woman who'll stick her finger up your cat's butt to clean him out! That's why she makes the BIG bucks! So cross your fingers that this will be IT for his medical woes... as my checking account is EMPTY now!!

Oh, and did I mention that our upstairs A/C unit died and we need to have all of that replaced tomorrow. Can you say B-R-O-K-E??? Good thing I can't eat anything... all this worry & money stress would usually send me RUNNING to food... so instead I got my mani & pedi + am going on a walk -- :youcandothis: -- is this even ME typing this stuff??? What is happening??? (I hope it's the transition beginning to occur... from a food-addicted fattie to a NORMAL PERSON!!!)

Keep keeping on, everyone!

Sheeeeesh Terry... you're on your 2nd fill and I don't get my first until June 5! but then again, I'm not having any hunger issues... yet!!

I just finished planting 8 different plants in one of my flower gardens and three Tomato plants in pots. Hope they do well in there. I changed my veggie garden to a flower garden last year, but I knew I'd miss fresh tomatoes off the vine. I have two flower beds to create with weedliner and mulch but won't get to that til Thursday. DH put all the paving blocks out so his part of the project is done. I have tons of morning glories to plant aslo on Thursday. It's starting to rain so I came in and am enjoying my nice cold Crystal light.

Ok - I was banded on 4/17/07.. I lost 20 lbs pre op(4/2 - 4/17) and I have lost 20 lbd since surgery (4/17 -5/15). I feel like I can't loose anymore - I walk 30 min a day and I watch what I eat. I go for my fill on 5/24.. Is the weight that I have lost a good number or a slow number??? Help!!!!:help:

I think 40 lbs is AWESOME!!!!! especially since you are in bandster hell!

Keep walking and those inches will just fall off!

I just got back from having my first fill of 1cc. and my next appontment is in 8 weeks. I was weighed by the dr.'s office and by the dietician's office and weighed different weights in less than 1 hour, so I'm sticking with what my scales said this morning, 230. I weight less at home.

I'm on full liquids for the day.

I have been given a diet of 1200 cal which is way more than I've been getting but I have been following my dr's plan and will stick to his schedule of eating. After 6 weeks I'll be able to add more fresh fruit, vegies and the like to my diet so I should be losing 2 lbs a week. I hope that holds true then I'll be down 38 lbs. :clap2:

Gotta go and take my daily nap!!!:sleep

Ibchelle -I can't imagine complaining about 40 pounds - WOW! You are doing great! Your body may time-out for a bit, mine does after rapid weight loss. It always puts me into a tailspin emotionally, but if you continue eating and exercising, you will release more weight. I have to keep reminding myself this is a two year process, some weeks I'll drop more than others even if I am "perfect!"

Violets - I am amazed at how wonderfully everyone is doing. Enjoy the wedding planning, what a wild ride that is!

I will make this short because the website is screwy.

Hugs,

I also found a school who took all my credits and gave me a degree! I should have it by the weekend I hope, and then I will update my resume and try for a job again. Maybe that will help! My mom wants to have a graduation party, it seems like I've been in school forever, actually years full time so it is about time someone gave me a degree, now to finish my BA! YIPEE!!!

Finished my 5th glass of Water today. I'll finish my 6th and 7th glass in about an hour. And I too had meat loaf for supper. cooked the begeezus out of some fresh asparagus and had that and a couple of tablespoons of sweet potato and I'm stuffed to the gills. Even a little pain as I think I ate too fast. I'm off to bell choir and a singing rehearsal and then will come home to a yogurt for my evening snack.< /span>

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
