Anyone tried sushi yet?

I'm a month and a half out. Just curious if anyone had tried sushi, it was a huge part of my diet before surgery and I can't tell you how bad I miss it, I've been invited out with my friends and boyfriend to go to this awesome sushi place in town, just looking for advice before I do anything that might backfire. I have no problem not eating if its going to hurt me in anyway, but if it won't, maybe a timeline as to when I might be able to eat it again?

There's nothing in sushi you cannot have other than the rice. Some places you can request it without rice or even order a hand roll without rice which is cheaper and the perfect size for us. I always get the "well it'll fall apart" crap from them but who cares, it all goes down the same.

I had great success with tuna sashimi.

Is sashimi just cut up fish? Because I've never had it

So I tried white tuna sashimi today for lunch and it came right back up! My pouch didn't agree with it! :( I really want some yummy sushi.

Raw fish is pretty tough to digest. I'd think you have to be farther out for it. I like the sweet shrimp.

Never had sushi..don't want it lol...i tried shrimp last night...was very good! No problems with it ..only wish I could have it breaded

Ugh i miss my baked lobster roll!!!.... Im 5 wks out... im going to wait til im 2 months out and then go try... except not the lobster roll ...I know the place I go to has a protein roll. . No rice... so im going to check that out... im guessing ill be able to actually eat 2 pieces ... let me know how it works for you ... good luck!

Good info to know. I to am missing sushi big time and chicken Pad Thai. I can live without the Pad Thai since it's mainly noodles. But sushi is something I def am missing. Dec 4th was my date and will probably give it a try in March which will be 3 months out.

Anyone here shop at Wegmans and hit up the Sushi bar. Just wondering if anything will work from there. I do know they have sashimi.

I tried Hiyaki..which is sushi wrapped in white fish instead of rice. I ate one and half piece and threw it up with in 10-15min... soo no more sushi for me!!

Instead of Nori Try it with Rice Paper (if u can) it maybe the Nori that makes it come up.

I'm 6 weeks PO and I Love Sushi and was wondering also as I'm reading the comments rice paper came to mind.

(just a thought)
